Watched this yesterday and couldn't get into it at all. The show seems off to me. Unnecessary, boring and a host/judge that you want to laugh at instead of take seriously, or at least get some great TV out of, ala Judge Judy. A camp queen stereotype throwing pouty lips and rolling eyes does not make him or the show interesting to watch. There must be plenty of bored housewives and househudbands who like this enough for it to get the ratings though. Personally, I think it's rubbish.

Its a wonder that he is able to practice as a barrister at all after this programme. It does nothing to enhance the legal system or image of the bar.

To be fair, I don't think he'll ever need to again.

I'm not sure how he could exactly, but would appreciate any input/ideas you may have.

In what way is he impaired in his ability to be a barrister by working as a television arbitrator? In what way does arbitration not enhance the legal system - it frees up the courts, after all?

If its done properly and for the benefit of the participants and the legal system in the country as a whole there is no problem. When it becomes an ego-fest for the benefit of television viewers then its so called entertainment and has no place in the justice system.

It is being done properly (in accordance with the law), and for the benefit of the participants (the case is being settled without having to go to court). And if the show gets people interested in legal cases, more people might end up going down to their local court to watch a few cases, and therefore engage with the legal system. It also benefits the legal system by freeing up the courts and letting simple cases be settled in a different manner.

Engaging people who would otherwise have no interest in the legal system is definitely of benefit to the legal system.

Judge Rinder used the gavel to break up an argument between the claimant and defendant.

For a few moments Judge Rinder was interupted by a technical fault. The black ITV background with the logo saying 'Greenwhich' or something on it. And a grey cube was 'bouncing' around the screen..

Is this anything to do with tomorrow's retune?
