Why is ITV1 and ITV2 showing the same episode of millionaire at the same time? Is it sometihng to do with WWTBAM Interactive?

Yep, tonight is an important night for WWTBAM and ITV.

'But we don't want to give you that ...we want to give you this - the new Who Wants To Be A Millionaire interactive service.'

God 'elp us if they ever launch a Weakest Link interactive service - then I'd go barmy, I really would! Razz:

Yeah, Glen the LWT v/o told us to turn to ITV2 if we had ITV Digital .. and ITV2 gave an instruction guide on how to access the service just before the ident.

The service was very good! Very well made! Sadly our families efforts only got us 74,000 points, which wasn't enough to enter the prize draw. That'll teach us to gamble on a 500,000 point question - and lose. Sad

And now they've got Pop Idol at the same time as well..

First time I've seen two broadcasts from the same studio since Music Live (when they did quite a clever crossover on BBC1 and BBC2 with Sian Williams and Michael Beurk)

ITV2 seem to have more than 1 camera as well, so not quite sure how its all working..

ITV really haven't got the hang of this two channel business. They ought to learn the second channel is supposed to provide an alternative, not just show the same thing as the main channel! They've already been doing this with The Goal Rush. Why can't the interactive gubbins just go out on ITV1?

The Goal rush airs on ITV Sport as well. The same show on 3 channels- WHY???????

Goal Rush (or Football First as it was previously known) was always on ITV2 from 2.30pm to 5.30 or 6pm.

I presume the simple fact is they have nothing else to put on, and rather than leave the ITV Sport Channel blank for a couple of hours when all the sport is actually happening, they'd rather show it anyway.

Maybe there is an advertising reason as well in they can aggregate the viewing figures from ITV1 into the ITV2 programme, or vice-versa, i.e. claim the overall total programme audience for each individual channel.

The Goal Rush goes out on ITV2.

But because ITV now have a Sport Channel, they show it on there as well.

And then finally, they usually show the second half on ITV1.

So its that order, ITV2 - ITV Sport Channel - ITV1.

They can't really cut it from any of the 3 channels for those reasons

Why do that when you can promote this 'new and exciting feature......only on ITV2' - the channel few people watch but ITV want more people to! It's all about getting more viewers for the sister channel.

i understand the promotion side of the arrangement (getting people to switch on to itv2 - but if i were utv/channel (i know channel dont promote itv) - or even scottish/grampian, as they are minority shareholders in itv2 - i wouldnt peomote the itv2 showing, as it would loose them viewers -> revenue.
does anyone know if utv/channel/smg promote it?
