Davina's obviously very skilled at reading autocue and appearing natural even though she's reading a script. But if the cue monitor is not in the presenters eye line (and it clearly isn't as can be seen when Davina talks below the eyeline of the camera) then the illusion is somewhat broken.

Can there be much worse than two middle aged ladies attempting to get down wiv the kids and try rapping on TV. I thought the dance poster thing with the member of the public was so weak it would have been rejected by Jeremy Beadle as totally sub-par. Another terrible audio dub, perhaps they don't have the luxury of the time to do it properly.

This entire enterprise seems to illustrate to me the difference between professional entertainers and professional presenters.

Why are ITV bleeping swear words, it's 10pm FFS!

Because the 10pm watershed is not a 'switch point' from no swearing to swearing. It's still a progressive process.

I thought the watershed starts from 9pm?

It still is:

Can TV channels show whatever they like after 9pm?
No. The transition to more adult material must not be unduly abrupt and the strongest material should appear later in the evening. But even then Ofcom’s rules protect viewers from offensive and harmful content.

You're right and I am wrong, here is a cutnpaste from Ofcom's site

But the point is still made that it is progressive and not a 'switch point'

I guess the argument can be made that as it's aiming for the widest possible audience it should cater to those who may be put off by swearing, and makes it suitable for online sharing. Plus it's what US late night shows do though obviously they have different regulations over there regarding this.

So how come Matt LeBlanc was allowed to swear on Top Gear which is on at 8pm, yet Davina can't swear on Nigtly Show at 10pm, an hour after the 9pm watershed?

Is it often down to the producer with shows on after 9pm whether swear words are bleeped or not as some shows seem to bleep the same words that are said on other shows. There doesn't seem to be a definitive rule. It even varies channel to channel.

Charlie Brooker's stuff goes out around 10pm and he's censored, but nobody else. I asked about this online and it was something along the lines of "because Brooker in the host and is in charge, the Beeb don't want him to be seen as vulgar or offensive" or some nonsense. Made no sense to me. I've heard "p*ss" and "bo**ocks" at around 2pm on UKTV.

Was I the only one who horrifically misread that word?

I always got the impression with Brooker that his stuff was bleeped for comic effect, as often in the same show he will bleep himself, and then not bleep himself at another point. Or maybe he's only allowed a certain number of swears per episode, which i know has been the case with some shows in the past.

1.7 million for last night's episode.

Still less than News at Ten would get on an average day, never mind after ITV's biggest drama.

Regardless of the watershed Davina coming on air and immediately shouting the F word two seconds in would be seen as a bit too much for many viewers, hence why it was bleeped. A guest using the word in the middle of a story five minute later probably would be left in. Remember it's all about context, channel, target audience.

They're not aiming for a particularly sophisticated audience, by the looks of it.

The lead in show is also a factor. They'd probably be less cautious after Play to the Whistle than Broadchurch.
