Yep - I'd imagine that Arqiva (NGW as was, Crown Castle before that) would have little to no interest in paying to operate expensive transmitters to such a small region with such minimal advertising revenue... They would surely never pay for themselves? (After all, Arqiva aren't extending their 3 COM muxes past the current situation, and aren't funding relays/repeaters at the same level as the 3 PSB muxes are being extended)

Indeed, though some the 80 'heritage' DTT sites that do carry all 6 muxes have smaller population coverages than Jersey's Fremont Point.
Bressay (Shetland Is), Keelylang (Orkney), Eitshal (Lewis) are all most probably uneconomic. There are some mainland relays, that have no DTT service, nor will carry all 6 muxes post DSO, yet have higher population coverages than the stations I mention.

Here are two interesting quotes about the reception of Channel TV in mainland France, from the 1968 book The New French Revolution by John Ardagh:

"And even ITV and BBC in the Channel Islands attract a small audience in the Contentin, around St. Malo, and as far inland as Rennes. The local paper, Ouest-France, publishes the British programmes; in Dinard there is a Cercle des Amis de Channel (Channel TV) and a holiday hotel in Cartelet altered its dinner-hour so that its British summer guests could watch Coronation Street!"

"There is even some French advertising on Channel TV, though the ITA does not regard this as strictly legal."

Presumably these 6 mux sites were operating in the days of ON/ITVDigital when subscription skewed the business model over advertising?
