She's called Lou James - she's one of the better NRSE presenters (along with Nina Hussain)

Sorry if this has been asked before, but how much would a typical DX set-up cost ?

I can't get nothing! But if I go to a relatives house about 5 or 6 miles from me, she can get Newsroom South East and Carlton/LWT, so when I want London pics I just take a tape over there!

I can get a quite good reception from Crystal Palace for Carlton/LWT (In fact that's my favourite now, I don't watch Carlton Central anymore!!) and Moel-y-Parc for S4C, HTV etc etc Smile

If I got one of those ariels what could I pick up from Glasgow?

Hi Martin

When the conditions are good, it's just a matter of pointing in the right direction and tuning to the right channel. Here are some interesting possibles from Glasgow (in rough order of likelihood):

Border TV on ch. 28 and BBC North-East on ch. 30 from Caldbeck (86 miles)
Grampian TV from Durris on ch. 25 (108 miles)
Ulster TV on ch. 24 and BBC N. Ireland on ch. 31 from Divis (110 miles)
Grampian TV from Angus on ch. 60 (70 miles - closer than Durris but weaker)
Tyne-Tees TV on ch. 29 and BBC North-East on ch. 33 from Bilsdale (160 miles)

There are also loads of STV and BBC Scotland prospects from various places yin and a', but the above are the 'interesting' ones. Please post if you have any success - indeed, might get more distant too!

Hi Teleonline

Unless you're in a 'black spot' you could probably extend your range that last 5-6 miles with a bit of juggling...

Hi Ashley

You don't really need anything special, just the ability to point your aerial in the right direction and tune your TV to the right channel.

Lookat:

http://www.wolfbane.com/cgi-bin/tva.exe?

... TV reception predictor (you'll need to know your approx. Ordnance Grid location but there's a link on the page to find it for you).

Also, lookat:

http://www.isonstine.plus.com/dx_general.html

... our own James' DX page!

Hi MikeG

DX = 'long distance' (reception) - a Ham term

Anyone know this presenter's name? She looks incredibly like someone I met the other week in Oxford.

Hi Big Phil

Isn't she wonderful? Just to mention she looks a lot like Rosie whom you might quite likely have met in Oxford - if so, hands off pleeaze M8!

Thanx for that! But how do you capture the pictures. Sorry if this makes me sound like a dunce but I'm new to this technology malarkey!
