If *YOU* could run an ITV1 station, how would you do things? Here's what I'd do. I'm offering a fantasy TV schedule for a new company, MSTV (MidShire TeleVision) who have ousted Carlton Central (hooray!) and here's how MSTV1 are doing things (using their own branding 100%, UTV/STV style - no ITV branding during the day bar itn news to be seen!)

06.00 GMTV 09.25 Watch To Wiin 09.29 Midshire News Update 09:30 Trisha 10.30 This Morning 12.28 Midshire News Update 12:30 ITV Lunchtime News 13:00 Midshire Lunchtime 13:35 The Biggest Game In Town 14:05 Crossroads/Ethinc Minority Show 14:35 Factual Regional Show 15:05 News 15:20 CITV 17:05 The People Versus 17:30 Local Soap Opera (name TBC)/BGIT 18:00 Midshire News Hour with the ITV Evening News at 18.30 19:00 Crossroads/Weekenders (Friday local chat show) 19:30 Coronation St/Regional Show 20:00 Emmerdale 20:30 Network Programming except the usual regional slots

except Fridays 22.30 It's Friday - debate show 23:30 Crossroads Omnibus 01:30 Joins LNN

Just a suggestion - mainly to show how i'd screw the network planning.

I hate naughty word filters - they scrape the hell out of me under the circumstances!

Personally, I'd have tea-times as follows:

(for YTV of course)

5.00 Crossroads/The Biggest Game in Town Friday Flyer
5.30 ITV Early Evening News
6.00 Calendar 'First with the News'
6.30 Tonight
7.00 Emmerdale

Where would People Versus go? 1pm?

Tony Jardine, ITV's Formula One Race analyst.

I doubt that The People Versus will run forever, it'll finish soon (Xmas maybe?) and Wheel of Fortune might return? (Except that John Leslie can't be making any at the moment)

I'd move The People Versus to 8pm, increase the cash, do something about the 'Bong Game', and introduce a real audience.
Keep the rest of the format same though

The people versus has just been recommissioned for another series as it is doing rather well with students and other millionaires whom are after more cash for submitting questions.....

Huh! People Versus was moved from prime time, Andrew, so it won't move back into it. When they changed it, they introduced the Bong Game (which was a radio game originally) and made the 3 flips all on one subject, and instead of having 5 rounds, each on a specialist subject, where you got guaranteed cash for each question, they introduced 5 rounds of geeral knowledge, where you only get the cash if you complete the round, and not guaranteed either. The current show is very different to the original format.

GWR Group's radio stations (Today's better music mix without the hard rock is the slogan used by all of them including SkyD ch860) do a game called Beat The Music which is similar. Guess the song title quick while the cash counts down.

Crossroads needs to go BACK to 5pm. It was LOSING viewers, putting it up against Neighbours won't solve A THING. Hurrah for UTV and HTV Wales for leaving it be! How do they do it anyway? Tape the 2.05 version then just play it out again at 5.05?

12noon then?, they could reduce the length of This Morning

I wonder where this new ITV Soap is going to be slotted in?

I understood Night & Day was having Crossroads evening slot. Crossroads would then only be on at lunchtime.

Isn't it the other way round?

The original plan was for Crossroads to be only on daytime and The One That Keeps Changing Its Name on teatime, but ITV1 are scratchin heads cos the teatime Crossers is the more popular of the two showings! So Night & Day/Trafalgar Road/whatever will probably turn up in the 'People Versus' slot with 'People' moving to replace 'Biggest Game'.
