For another who hasn't yet made the discovery, there are literally hundreds of Eurovision videos available on Youtube. To pick just a couple:

1992: Michael Ball - he came 2nd for us with this one. Its a fantastic demonstration of just how far lighting, cameras and vision-mixing have come. And of course they still had the orchestra back then.

The 1988 close finish

You can search even further back than then too..

And here's Wikipedia's brief info on Krisse Saiminen - predictably I'm sure at least 75% of the foreign audience didn't get the joke.

Go back a few more years to 1999 I think and you'll see a scoreboard with 'BBC Resources' flashing up every few minutes.

What's your problem? Granted I was wrong about them doing well at Eurovision but why in God's name do you have to be such a stuck up tit? You've always been like that and I don't quite know why, SE.

It's a cheap and cheesy novelty camp-pop fest that people are buying because everything else is either depressing or sh*t. Why not have a rather less pessimistic outlook on things? It's only Eurovision, for Christ's sake.

Great spectacle as always but a shame we didn't do a bit better. Ireland and Malta giving us points hardly says much. Maybe Mike Read's X-Factor style idea for next year is possibly a good idea to get a decent song (although we obviously haven't found what define's a 'decent' Eurovision song for a while) but the political voting is getting sillier and sillier.

I'm sure this has already been thought of but I take it it's not possible to find out a small nation's Eurovision number and do an international call to vote for the UK entry? Or something involving a Skype-type facility? If you can't beat them...cheat Laughing

Well you see I'm so used to reading your comments on here casting judgement on the talent of others with your "musically trained" superiority complex. And yet here you are advocating Schooch, yes Schooch in this. Frankly, I'm amazed. Shocked

I do however prefer you when you are doing your Harry Secombe impersonations on You Tube. It's a class act.
