Would they still convert it to 1080i60 when all Blu-ray equipment in the US should handle 1080i50?

Yes, because TVs in the US apparently still don't (generally) handle 50i.

Having read more on this, I was misremembering the compatibility with 1080i50 and confusing it with 1080p24.

I've read a review of a previous series released on Blu-ray in the US, and they say the motion judder is minimal, having improved upon Torchwood Series 1 being badly converted.

I think season 1 also had the disadvantage of being badly shot - AIUI it was used almost as a bit of a test run for some Sony HD cameras, or something? IIRC, the first block of episodes to be shot looked particularly bad.

And don't forget that people in the US have been used to juddery 3/2 pulldown for years Wink
