Shame about the lack of a 'None' option...

It's magically appeared.

I think its a case of BBC/ITV jumping on the bandwagon with a programme format. The end result is lots of the same type of programme, and many getting fed up of watching it as it seems to be on all year around. A similar thing happened a few years ago with Pop Stars and Fame Academy. More recently has been the west end musical competitions it would seem.

Who added "None of the above" to the poll? Thanks for doing so, but how did that person manage it? When I tried EDIT I couldn't add an extra option.

I'm predicting it was a very generous Mod. However it's already on 7, beating the others. No surprise there...

8 now...

Either way, Charlie probably did some wizardry in the MCP or by editing the database directly.

Sorry for not providing that option. Having tried EDIT. it appears I can't retro add it to the poll.

I didn't actually mean for you to include it - I was merely making a statement. But now you have, it's nice to see so many others feel the same way!

Expanding on my earlier point, there are only an infinite number of viewers wanting to watch dance shows and whether theres one show on or two, they're going to watch regardless. Its a sad state of affairs when our two major terrestial channels, particularly the BBC, chase their rivals viewers in the same timeslot with a similair programme. I know ratings don't show it but many people don't just sit down and watch one programme, they flick between the two just for their favourite acts - no wonder ITV's ad revenue is dropping when the show is continuing on the other side!

Surely the BBC should just accept ITV can have that success with those infinite viewers and try and beat it with something different to intice the vast majority of the population who aren't interested. Look at soaps, for example, using this mentality they would be scheduled against each other but by and large they aren't. If soaps were introduced today, they would immediately be scheduled up against each other to try and steal viewers off the other rather than accepting each has their own strengths and they can share viewers, both those who watch soaps and those who choose to avoid them.

Seeing the amount of 'None of the above's, I doubt The Eurovision Dance Contest due to take place in London on the 1st September will really go down very well...

Well in my opening message, I listed dance shows that have been series lasting a number of weeks at a time.

I know the Eurovision Dance Contest will make its first appearance on 1 September. As a keen fan of Eurovision Song Contest, I'll watch Eurovision Dance Contest and see how it compares. My reason for not listing that in the opening post is that it's a forthcoming event, no-one has seen the first ever edition of it yet, so can't yet comment on it. Comments on the Eurovision Song Contest will be welcome here in due course, just like the other dance shows.

Well yesterday evening, I watched DanceX followed by the grand final of Baby Ballroom .

What a shame Arlene's team lost DanceX and had to drop a member - taking the size of the team from 7 members to 6. I thought Arlene's team was better than Bruno's team.

One could argue that this has helped balance things a little though. The last two weeks (28 July and 4 August), Bruno lost and each time had to drop a member. Hence at the start of last night's show, Arlene had 7 members, whereas Bruno had only 5. Just suppose Bruno's team had lost again, he'd have had to have dropped another member, taking the tally for next week to Arlene's team 7 members, Bruno's team 4 members. A bit unbalanced, eh? Since Bruno's team won this week, and Arlene's team lost, next week's tally will be Arlene's team 6 members, Bruno's team 5 members.

As for Baby Ballroom, well done to Kim and Josh (blue team). They won that big trophy, but said their dance teacher will keep it. At least that saves quarrelling over whether Kim or Josh should have it.

DanceX Grand Final BBC1 8:30pm this evening

Well tonight it's the Grand Final of DanceX on BBC1.

In last week's semi-final, Arlene's group lost for the second week running, so Arlene had to drop another member of her group.

So you see, since the start, Bruno has had to drop two from his group, and Arlene has had to drop two from hers. The uphot of this is that, for tonight's grand final, both groups are of equal size, five members each.

I'll definitely be tuning in to see DanceX. I think Arlene's group should win. Which group do you think should win - Arlene's group or Bruno's group?
