It doesn't takeaway from the fact short bursts of bloopers etc would be good for uploads and prove a good social media marketing tool. It doesn't takeaway from the fact people would probably pay a tenner for a DVD to show their mates. If they can get these clearances from Zodiak they'd be silly not to look into it.

Also they've strongly hinted a TV revival isn't totally off the cards and of course it would depend on what kind of funding they get for the project and the scale they allow for the set. If it's good broadcasters would surely be interested as the main hurdle would no longer be there.

If, and a big if it does come back to TV then a new regular host would need to be selected.

Names such as Russell Brand or Robert Llewellyn spring to mind as possible maze masters for a TV revival.

I'll go one better and say for a fact that a TV revival of The Crystal Maze will definitely happen at some point in the future.

Russell Brand's personality is maybe a bit too large. He also looks identical to Richard O'Brian from the waist down and that would be too much of a reminder that I wasn't watching Richard.

Someone quirky and funny like Richard Ayoade would do if for me.

Is the format perfect, or are there improvements to be made d'you think?

It's pretty much perfect - the only tweaks might be to reflect the running time as they'd either have to have less or shorter games if it still ran in a one-hour commercial TV slot. Less games might mean it's worth while dropping one of the contestants too.

I would hope that should it be redone for TV they come up with alternatives for the zone changes and entrances to each zone.

I really want to do this. I do feel a bit sorry for Ed Tudor Pole though, even if he doesn't seem too concerned with talking about his time on the show.

In addition to this, I still think it would make a brilliant video game on Wii U/DS/PS4/XBox One. You could then add even more zones! How about Arctic, Western, Prehistoric and more!

I remember the site will you be funding the project, Patrick?
The site is long gone sadly, I think I still have the pages and HTML coding for it all stored on a disc somewhere.

I will look into trying to help out with funding in whatever way I can. Even though it's nowhere near me (as I'm in Ireland) it would be nice to let some new people and old fans get the experience, even if I don't. Would absolutely love to see it back on TV though. I would certainly apply to be a contestant if it was.

Looks like The Crystal Maze thingy is about to reach it's £500,000 target one week after the launch of the campaign.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of Crystal Maze £200,000 gets you.

The one great tragedy of this situation is the lack of an Ocean zone the Industrial zone was by far the least exciting world visually with Ocean being the nicest set but probably the most expensive, don't buy the excuse about water as only a couple of games in that zone used it to any extent.

I've seen no specifics on the on the scale eithe you'd hope it's a least 3/4 the size of the original.

I preferred the Industrial zone to the Ocean zone - the style of the former seemed to fit in better with the rest of the maze, in both style and name.
