One thing that crossed my mind the other day, surely Romana counts as being an Time Lord (Time Lady in this case) that didn't fight in the war but crossed over to E Space, could they bring her back to it or is that not possible, not that, I might add, that it is neccessary for her to come back

See, this is where continuity can get messy.

According to the CDs (and, I think, the books) and certainly the online update of Shada, Romana returned eventually and became President of Gallifrey. So she may have led the Time Lords intot he war.

Ah that I did not know, well then that b*ggers up that idea

The Master did (although "commited suicide"), Romana, the last I knew had crossed into E Space but apparently returned again, Omega, have to watch Arc of Infinity yet to make my mind up on that one & The Rani, erm never seen the Sylvester McCoy story yet so can't judge on that one

Saw the "Revenge Of The Cybermen" the other day & I have also read the book & have to say that the book was better than the filmed version itself. It's an OK story but the flares?!?! & the Cyber Leader is a bit, well, camp for a immoral kiler Laughing

Peter Davisons Earthshock is the best Cybermen story IMHO

As for Time-Flight/Arc Of Inifity box set...

Time-Flight, nice idea badly executed, the commentary is funny with Janet Fielding, Peter Davison & Eric Saward slating the adventure. Especially the fact of the situation with Concorde & the landscape.

Arc Of Infinity however was a good story, the effects were good for their time and the location work was spot on. The crypt match-up in studio was excellent you'd think they were in the real thing. The backdrop of Amsterdam was a nice touch as well.

If you ever get to see Time-Flight without the DVD improvements (e.g. on UKTV Gold), the "concorde taking off from pre-historic landscape" shots are far worse. They actually look somewhere close to decent (comparatively) on the DVD.

restoration-team.co.uk posted:
The shot of Concorde taking off from primeval Earth was more challenging, requiring the original model shot of rocks to be isolated. The stock shot of Concorde approaching the camera along the runway was stabilised so it no longer weaves from side to side behind the steady rocks, and heat haze and film grain was added to the model element to match the aircraft. The following shot of Concorde flying away above the citadel was also stabilised.

Ah interesting so that was a refilm. I think IIRC even Sarah Sutton commented on how bad the episode was, it is actually my least favourite of the Davison era, the majority of his have been rather good that have been released so far

The hostel where they go to is still there, although it has expanded!!!!. It is the stayokay hostel at Vondelpark (just 2 minutes walk away from the Leidseplein. The old entrance to the hostel, as seen on Doctor Who, now forms part of the canteen.

So wait, Key to Time & Destiny almost line astern? Seems odd that they're actually putting out two in sequence, especially with one a six-story/whole series boxet....

Just been re-watching Curse of Fenric and something I caught this time round which I never really questioned until now.

There is a scene between Ace's grandmother and the Doctor and she asks the Doctor if he had any family. The Doctor replied with "I don't know". Then Ace's grandmother says that it was probably because of the war and the Doctor agreed.

Does this mean that the Time War had already started during McCoy's era - but was never mentioned until Christopher Ecclestone's era???

Although, overall I did enjoy McCoy's era as it brought a new air of mystery to the Doctor - although there were a few dud stories - like with any season of Doctor Who. But if that era had been made with today's money how much better would it have been and would McCoy be easy damned as he is nowadays by many fans - funny how many of McCoys era writers actually write for New Doctor Who today!!!!!
