Chris Evans to be a regular One show host

Don't know if this is being discussed elsewhere but It seems Chris Evans is going to host the One Show every Friday.

Talk about Deja Vu! I read about this over the weekend, whilst I like Evans (controversially) from what I gather it leaves Chiles with the hard graft of talking about wheelbarrows and Chris gets the glory of interviewing the showbiz starts of today.

Chris was a good cover presenter, yet I fear he'll be too 'manic' for the shows audience. Chiles miserable delivery, whilst mocked, works well for the programme.

I, O so hope that Evans' second implosion is coming sooner rather than later. Am looking forward to the RAJARs keenly.

You won't be disappointed by his first set of ratings which will almost certainly be down. However long term you might well be, many who dislike him predicted disastrous ratings for Radio 2 drivetime but of course they weren't

Err - when was Chris a cover presenter on The One Show?

He's been a guest once (or twice?) - I don't remember him ever presenting.

They've either used The One Show male reporters (Dan Snow, Mike Dilger, Dom Littlewood, John Sergeant) or Nicky Campbell, Nick Knowles or Matt Baker (who front other BBC factual shows) to cover Adrian.

A year or two ago Jay Hunt (Controller of BBC One) announced, at the Edinburgh TV Festival I think, that Chris Evans was going to be holiday cover for Adrian, but when Adrian went on holiday Chris didn't end up covering...

I might have been mistaken then, I knew he was lined up to cover, and I think I remember him presenting but I might just be getting his appearances muddled up.

I think Chris Evans will do quite respectably in Rajar. I think he's very fortunate that for those who want a MOR music-led, advert-free breakfast show, there's nowhere to go other than Radio 2.

My parents who were die-hard TOGs, and 'can't stand Chris Evans' went out especially to buy a DAB radio when he started so they could find someone else to listen to in the morning. Sadly they couldn't find an alternative they liked, and now are back listening to Radio 2, 'putting up' with Evans.

I've also spoken to a few people who prefer him to Wogan.

All anecdotal, but I don't get the sense that Radio 2 listeners are leaving in their droves.

It's a case of churn though, he'll lose some and gain others and that might take time. It just depends at what point during the process the survey is taken.

Evans does seem to win people round though and he is very middle of the road these days. There are a small group of very vocal people for who for some reason think of Evans as the devil and they'll never be converted
