Is this year the first in a few they haven't done anything on the Thursday night too?

As a programme though just can't get excited about Children in Need anymore - it's years of being used as a pre-Christmas promotiional vehicle and bit of extra curricular for the same BBC faces are beginning to catch up with it. Indeed looking at the listings doesn't even seem like the Newsreaders are bothering this time.

Newsreaders haven't been on for a few years.

I think they're stepping in the right direction. Last year's telethon was much more watchable without the countless musicals, newsreaders and half-arsed CIN specials of programmes.

However I feel Wogan only has a few more years up his sleeve. They were obviously trying out more presenters to take the helm last year and they're doing the same this year.

I think next year being his 35th year might be a milestone for him to bow out from, or maybe one more year at TVC in 2017 on the cusp of him turning 80.

I honestly think CIN has run its course.

It's become very tired and content in the last few years has been pretty sparse.

Wogan as well doesn't jel anymore either - to me anyway.

I think CIN used to be something that I would set out to watch but tomorrow I may not even catch any of it.

A part of me gave up on CiN when I discovered Pudsey was a benefits cheat. He has two eyes and that eye patch is nothing. Since then I've struggled to see the fun in the show.

I still love CIN. I still feel entertained by it. It still raises the amazing amounts every year.

I think the only time to knock it on the head is when it fails to raise the money. At the end of the day, that is what counts and the whole reason behind it.

A telethon is meant to be varied and obviously not everything will appeal to everyone but it seems to appeal to most as viewing is still reasonable.

The above is all that matters!

I'm not watching this year's full telethon. Terry Wogan is more famous for his rants about Conchita winning the "freakshow". Grimbore seems to be getting more coverage with Tuesday's One Show. And the musical guests are getting more predictable. So I just wait for what I want on BBC's YouTube channel. I still support the cause. I still feel very sorry and emotional for those in the appeals. I just gonna watch anything I want without having to spend hours of presenters and switching the channel during nasty parts.

I think last year's Text Santa put Children in Need to shame.

I actually thought that the newsreaders slot was one of the highlights.

As 'meh' as CIN has become, I'd still rather watch it than Text Santa, purely because Shouty Schofield is involved with it and lots of other ITV shows. He must have some serious dirt on someone at ITV to be getting so many gigs with them.

Is Tom and Jerry on so late due to the "violence"? I wonder if Mammy Two Shoes will be appearing...?

In response to the question, Children in Need remains child-friendly throughout the night, so it's probably to keep people watching.

As regards Text Santa, I was pleasantly surprised last year. If it was an O'Leary-Shephard-fest, I'd probably not bother.
