Here is a capture from the opening titles of a 1986 Channel 4 show.

Which came first, the titles or the COW?

Thats quite cleary not a COW, mainly bacause COW stands for Computer Originating world- and that is clearly not from a computer.

Superb piece of research there Whataday.

Yes, its clearly not a computer originated world (looks like a model) but the design is way too close to the BBC globe for comfort.

Mind you, you said its a 1986 show - didnt the COW start in '85?

I rather like that Channel 4 ident from 1986.

The titles start with a close up of the globe spining, with images of different parts of the world fading on it. The globe then moves to the position that you can see in the capture, and the title fades in.

It's really the font that looks suspiciously similar. The globe is just a globe. So no copyright theft but quite cheeky!
