Yep, but luckily becuase they switched on LWT early on the Waltham mast. I managed to capture an edition of London Tonight. This is fantastic!

I wonder whats happened to broadcast LWT here?

Shame they've stopped using the LWT idents and are using the generic ones now.

There were problems with Yorkshire earlier. Firstly, just after the Formula 1 coverage when it was time for the next programme, we had the Granada ident then they said they were having problems and we had a screen with the ITV logo on for about 30 seconds - 1 minute.

After that, everything was back to normal. The YTV ident came on and the alternative schedule came into place becasue of the F1 overlap.

I wonder if this could be itv's attempt at what the BBC did the other night to test what happens when the main transmitters go down. (I seriously doubt it though! -- loss of ad revenue etc)

Here in London, we are getting generic idents with:

'You're watching ITV. Due to technical problems, local programmes in the Carlton Central region are currently being broadcast from London by LWT.'

Interesting stuff!! I can't believe you are getting London Tonight!

Anyone have any idea of what has happened?

No, idea. It appears that Carlton Central have had SERIOUS problems and wasn't uplinking a signal to the transmitters. Thats just an educated guess though, as to really whats happened. I don't know.

Its absolutely mad, put the LWT logo back on, I only captured half of it last time. We're now watching Border Patrol.

I must say, London Tonight is excellent, one of the best regional news programmes I have seen in ages. Smile

I've just tried to call the Carlton studios in Nottingham and it's engaged and the same goes for the Sutton Transmitter enquiries line....

I'll keep trying though

Cheers,

Yeah, it seems the Formula One race has cocked up the whole network and not just scheduling! (for some reason?)

I was watching (and captured) the end of the race when Granada decided to show a VT clock for their 'World Cup Memories'.

This was then followed like MikeG said by a generic ITV caption. The announcer kept us informed 'folks!'

Any thoughts on Central? (fire evacuation?)

I think it is an output problem because ITV on Telewest Active Digital is also off the air, and not even on LWT, it's direct from Carlton so we get a black screen and sometimes some pink interference....

cheers

ps... no luck yet with the phone lines

Why do you think Carlton Central is broadcasting LWT?

a) because it is the nearest region next door
b) because it is 'London' and they have overall control
or
c) because if this happened Mon-Fri, it would be Carlton London.

It sounds very interesting anyway!

Anyone know how Central's distribution network is organised. It would seem reasonable (in view that all regions are affected) that all the regions' signals are sent out to the transmitters from one location -- and it is here that the major problems lie. Somewhat akin to the BBC's power outage affecting all its channels. Anything major happening in Brum or Nottingham today? Any reports on Midlands Today (doubtful)?
