Well, I watched and waited and I was not disappointed. After 90 or so minutes, there it was - a reference to England. Even in a historical drama, set at a time when England didn't exist, they have to shove it in. Possibly down to the fact that in most English people's minds England and Britain are synonymous. Nul points for C4 for accuracy. A*seho*es.

It's a Canadian and Irish show.

Anyway why should the story teller care, it's fantasy for goodness sake!

What did you expect from a historical drama in which the Arthurian characters say "yeah" and "OK"?

I had to turn up the brightness on my television to make out what was going on.

A dumbed down aberration of the highest order.

C4 were definatley right to show a double bill as the first hour was a very slow burner. Inevitably though you can't help but compare to the BBC version and that made it quite difficult for me to get into at first, but definitely worth sticking with IMO.

I've seen the whole lot, and I have to say it has its ups and downs. Its a tad predictable, mainly because Arthurian Legend has been done to death, and Eva Green's voice can be quite annoying at times. But the variations, like the forthcoming episode Lady of the Lake
where the myth is turned on its head showing the daughter of the swordsmith, a girl called Excalibur, who was drowned when Merlin looses control of his power and freezes the lake with her in the water, leaving her hand, and the sword sticking out.
which shows how history can be rewritten, really give this show something new and interesting that kept me watching. Also, Jamie Campbell Bower's performance and transformation of this morally ambiguous womanising teenager pushed into kinghood and developing into the beginnings of a great king is truly a great watch.

It is far superior to the BBC's Merlin, they have at least tried to stick to the actual mythology, instead of making most of it up.
