Border Should Merge With Granada News

This is just an idea, but why don't Border News merge with Granada News & Granada Reports. There could be a Regional Split during the main 1800 Programme and even during the 1500 Update.

Granada Reports has recently undergone a major relaunch, it was very good before that, but it is even better now. I am sure the viewers on the Borders would enjoy Lucy Meacock & Tony Morris each night.

One thing though, Susannah B looks very nice from a clip I saw of Border News, so maybe she could do the news-roundup.

You need Angela Johnston from Border too! as long as they dont use granada news' music.
If they did this, you'd have a programme covering a bit of wales, england and scotland. cool i suppose!

This would not work because Border is already split in two. Southern Scotland has an opt-out (still ran from Carlisle) to air Scottish programs eg. Scotsport, which goes out on Scottish Tv and Grampian Tv aswell. Then Cumbria and the Isle Of Man are covered by the main service. News programming is the same on both services though.

Is there any identification on screen that you're watching Border England or Border Scotland???

Only on teletext. Southern Scotland is ITV 1 Borders and SW Scotland. Cumbria and the Isle of Man are grouped as ITV1 Cumbria.

And, I think, also on Sky Digital as well - ITV1 Border Scotland and England, respectively.

Sorry, I forgot to mention Sky Digital. You're right, it is also shown quite clearly on Sky the opt out for Southern Scotland.

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I don't think that Border viewers would be to pleased to lose well known Border presenters such as Tim Backshall and Fiona Armstrong for people that they have never heard of such as Tony Morris or Lucy Meacock.

And also bear in mind that Border gets enough stick up here for taking most of Granada's regional progs... relocate the Border News to Manchester, and there'd be full-scale riots in South Scotland!!! In any case, the current regulations wouldn't allow it (news switch that is... not the riots!!).

If Border does disintigrate, Cumbria and the IOM could join Granada in Manchester. Southern Scotland should then be covered by Scottish Television. Stories from Southern Scotland are covered by Scotland Today just now anyway.

I've noticed that, when I've been up in Edinburgh, they also cover South Scotland on the weather maps, but we can't get it!!! Confused

Its only the Borders that can only really receive Scottish Tv. In Dumfries we still cannot get Scottish Tv on normal televisions, or on Sky Digital, the picture is all broken up and there is no sound. Just one other thing, a bit off topic, but in southern Scotland we cannot even get BBC2 Scotland, everyone has BBC2 Northeast and Cumbria. This is really annoying because we then cannot get programmes such as Newsnight Scotland. You can only get BBC2 Scotland on Sky Digital.
