I like this a lot. The possibilities are limitless here. A wealth of creativity that really grabs the attention. As someone else has suggested - having a range of short clips like these available and randomly selected and joined together (live) to create fairly unique combinations would be such a leap forward for BBC Two's presentation. Great job Luke Carpenter.

So these are just specially themed Art Night idents? Damn. I think BBC Two should keep the branding and produce a new set of idents around this precise of various shots all put together live to create new idents, but always around a theme. Like a Comedy, or a Horror theme.

Yeah.

What's great to see here is the tremendous reverence the designer has paid to the aesthetics and vision of the 90's 2s. It's a fantastic modern representation of the symbol, a far better embodiment of the channel's character and personality than anything seen over the last 10 years.

They would be absolutely crackers not to treat this as a pilot run for a new ident set, fully realised into a complete, all round package. It is precisely the kind of ballsy, energetic rocket of creativity needed to reinvigorate the channel brand, which has a lot of mileage left in the "big 2" concept as this reel superbly demonstrates.

Bravo.

This. I don't see anything 'witty' about Window in the World or the ghastly pres package introduced in 2009. This set here? Yes it does.

It embodies a modern BBC Two at its finest and is closely near to the 90s idents.
cylon6 and tmorgan96 gave kudos

I second this. The amount of effort that has been put into some of those segments, it's unreal. How it pays homage to the 90's but still invents something new, is unreal. Let's pray they keep this branding, or use it alongside the 90's Restored idents.

I really don't like the 2 they use Sad

For the physical models, yes, I agree . However, for the window cuts, I don't think the old '2' would work, much like how the 2007 idents would have looked off with the '91 shape.

I actually love these- the subtly of some of them is very creative too and on a whole it's some real eye candy- this needs to be made into a full set!

The soundtrack isn't great, and as has been said it was too upbeat to go into that particular programme.

But the attention to detail and respect for the heritage is excellent. I guess these clips could be put together in any order so you could have an unlimited number of variants just by randomising the playlist order. Maybe a selection of soundtracks at different tempos with the clips cutting in sync would work.

I love the idents as they look fantastic for a more modern look of the channel. A full set of them would be great for a rebrand.

Also in that particular ident...no BBC Two box logo. Is this even testing the water for a BBC Three/CBBC style logo?

Edit: themed ident - it isn't testing for new branding. The post after this rips it to shreds.
