BBC2 Network (alone) aired the BBC2 1998 Christmas ident before Open All Hours, at 2pm today.

Give it a few days and Scotland and wales might follow suit.

I wish they could dig out the BBC2 1993 Christmas ident. Exquisite stop-frame animation that any fimmaker would be proud to call his/her own work.

Doesn't look easy to convert to widescreen...

Oh, I suspect at least very dificult to at most pretty impossible, especially the opening shots before form up, but if aired very occasionally, I would leave it 4:3 and not worry too much. Remember, BBC2 Northern Ireland aired the 1985 Christmas ident in 4:3, two or three christmases ago. I captured it.

The BBC2 1998 Christmas ident was shown on Network and Scotland today, before Just Good Friends.

BBC2 Scotland seemed to air a Network copy.

Both playouts that were aired today, for comparison purposes. Network's first:

...and what Scotland showed:

BBC Two's presentation is such a mess at the moment. No wonder the production teams don't know which is the right logo to use when trailing programmes on screen.

And Christmas definitely is the worst part, with the mixture of too different styles and those new soundtracks
