Well, third time lucky. Here is the Midlands TV thread...again to bring you the latest goings on. And hopefully a picture or two. Wink

No pictures of the proceedings tonight. But Central News West had a special report on CITV's 20th birthday (seeing as it comes from Birmingham) including a behind the scenes look and exactly where the Central News studio is. (directly opposite the CITV set)
Also, Mark Bolton referring to Llew as his new "Grotbags" caused a lot of laughing right into the end credits.

And on Midlands Today - an interview with Matthew Kelly..but not for CITV this time...instead the panto he is starring in.
Also James McDonald was on the weather today. But didn't break anything. Sad

I'm sure tvmercia will come along with some pictures later anyway.

oh yes, you do the easy bit and take all the glory, whilst i slave away jpeg-ing pictures Very Happy ... im a martyr to the midlands cause though - nothings too much for kay.

anyway, heres good old michelle proving just how close the 2 sets are in reality. we knew they were both in studio A - but i never dreamed they were so very near!

*

we were treated to some highlights to this morning's show - and michelle even mentioned "central studios" at one point.
*

and look who it is - its garry terrza from central continuity - now at ch4 (isnt he?)
*

quick chat with leah and michael who are the current presenters
*

then with someone important
*

finally bob, llew and mark laugh about the mess grotbags used to leave the central make-up room in
*

rather nice of central to celebrate 20 years of a strand which rarely gets recognised as a central production.

all in all, a good show!! lets hope central are on-the-up again, they seemed to get rather dull towards at the end of last year.

Meanwhile on BBC One ....

Midlands Today went to Star City, for some Sci Fi convention type thing, & met up with 'Boba Fett' himself, actor Jeremy Bulloch, (also famous for us 'Who' fans for the odd appearence in the show!).

Plus a Cyberman, & a Dalek, who declared Nick Owen was 'The most evil being in the universe' , or something !

P.s

Katherine's quiet, isn't she ?

Have they moved that Central News set then?

When before they had the webcams on the CITV website, one of them pointed in that direction (the way she walks off) but you could not see anything of the Central News set on the webcam.

I always thought the two sets were on the back of each other (or at opposite ends of the studio which suggests how much I know about studio layouts) but obviously not.

Obviously done well then to get two big looking sets into that space.

RE: CITV 20

Marie Ashby and Kevin Ashford spoke live to Leah and Michael during Friday's Central News. CITV have a new young presenter too- who doesn't really seem to say enough.

I've noticed that they still haven't put the silver border round the other plasma (the ye olde one that used to be the only interview screen and then shoved upstairs as the two used for the window were then stuck on stands for interview screens).

Typical Midlands Today charm that is. One thing that has just puzzled me is why Sheffali doesnt' have her blue screen in the unused bit. Would make some use of that area plus the end shot wouldn't have a wonderful view of a bit of blue screen because the CSO messes up. Oh the wonders of Midlands oddness.
