It's been confirmed today that Graham Norton will step into Terry Wogan's shoes and be the main compere for this years Children in Need appeal.

This year's appeal will be the first appeal since Sir Terry's passing in January. Last year Dermot O'Leary stepped in at the last minute when Terry fell ill. Obviously Dermot could not do this year's appeal due to his X Factor commitments.

I'm hoping that they remain respectful to Terry this year and mark his 35 years of presenting the appeal and all of his achievements.

I think Graham could make the appeal his own in the coming years should he decide to continue.

A good choice, though they have to get the balance right between remembering Terry and remembering why they're there, which I'm sure they will.

Interesting that Grimshaw has been dropped, along with Fearne Cotton. Greg James and Marvin Humes come in, along with Tess and Rochelle.

I wonder if this is the start of Grimshaw being dropped elsewhere as well. Greg James is a much better host both on radio and TV.

This year's Children In Need Rocks is dedicated entirely to Sir Terry and will feature artists playing his favourite songs:

A much better choice of younger presenters this time round. Norton is also an acceptable choice as main host.

This means Graham has Terry's three most notable TV roles from the 80s and early 90's.

Now all the BBC need to do is bring back Auntie's Bloomers.

Paul Ogrady and Ann "Wink" Roberson have already done that.

I think that is the way to do it - gives them a show dedicated to Terry leaving the main show to focus on the cause.

Barcode no need to tell us what you do when you watch The Weakest Link.

Graham has denied his is the main host. He has said that all those presenting will have equal slots and that no one is "the star" this year.
