When was the last time we saw the 'missing child' system activated?? I remember it flashing up on ITV on a Saturday night (It'll be alright on the night???), around 10 years ago... but not since. Surely there has been use for it since then?

2008 - It's use is dictated by the National Crime Agency now, nothing to do with the broadcasters. It's where a risk that a child will be seriously injured, killed or taken from the UK. It's accompanied by an All Ports PNC broadcast to various agencies such as the Border Force, Home Office Police Forces covering Airports and the British Transport Police.

I think the actual implementation may involve the broadcasters - or their playout or distribution partners though.

Is it then a national requirement, in other words has to appear nationally, rather than in a single region ?

If the former, then obviously it's far easier to implement, now, and in the future if the BBC go for a more centralised opt system.

If the regions do it themselves they can only do it for BBC 1 anyway, and only during hours when there is somebody around who can operate the gallery.

Which then, makes the case further for more central control of regional opts ?

Old example, but how it would appear. Just an aston/premade graphic overlaid on network
