Anne Kirkbride has passed away

Oh my god. She went at 60 years old. Unbelievable.

Rest in Peace Deirdre love.

Very shocked to hear of this news, she will be sorely missed. R.I.P Anne.

Like, everyone has said, an absolute shock.

Only read the other day that she had took an extended break from Corrie with rumours she was going to leave.

An absolute legend (and that is overused these days) of soap. Coronation Street will not be same without her - I for one will miss her greatly.

Absolutely shocking news, a great loss.

Very sad news, my thoughts are with Anne's family and colleagues.

It was shocking to see the alert come on to my phone so much so that I had to head to the news channels.

A wonderful actress who managed to portray a character that everybody could connect with for many years. May she rest in peace.

Totally shocked when i read this news earlier. Deirdre was one of the few legends left in Corrie from its heyday. Everyone thinks of Ken and Deirdre when they think of Corrie.

Very shocking news. Only earlier today was I reading reports that she was reported to be considering quitting and retiring, sadly it ended all too rather abruptly.

How will this sad news be written into the story? Precedent for this sort of thing across all soaps is to give the character an off screen death, in order to have an on screen funeral. I am sure that will be a very high rating episode.

One which sticks in my mind is the funeral of Seth in Emmerdale. Wonderful tribute to Stan Richards who played him.

Very sad news - and even sadder realising how young she was. I assumed she was closer to 70.

I'd imagine they would handle this in a similar way to how they did when Maggie Jones passed away. One thing is for certain, there are going to be some very emotional Corrie episodes in the near future.
