Though, its a lot of trouble just to receive those two channels. Wink

Some (including me) would say it's worth it, though Razz:

Me too though I would be concerned about the cost.

So is anyone else planning to get it?

I am seriously considering getting it!

I have the money and if the system appears up to the job after close scrutiny then they can have my £39 with pleasure.

I hope its not a hoax or it really costs £239. Sad

Don't see why it should be a hoax and even if it is then I'm sure our friend was only passing on information. Smile

According to the DigitalSpy forums. It is only an analogue system. Sad

Thats OK for those of you who want it but I was under the impression it was a digital box.

I have no use for another analogue box as I already have one pointing at 13°E.

So the set top box is capable of Digital but you wont be able to watch digital with that dish - am I right?

No, the dish is capable of receiving digital (>11700) signals but the box is only a very basic FTA analogue receiver -- you can pick these up for a couple of quid in car boot sales Smile

It's both Analogue and Digital as stated in the full page advert in most national tabloid newspapers.

One concern - does it have a viewing card? If not many channels, even free channels may not be accessible (eg. BBC One etc.) on digital.

So has anyone actually gone out and bought the system?

If so is it analogue, digital or both? Is the price correct?

Do you think its a good buy?

Well I went to my Nearest Lidl store to find that they were sold out within the hour. Apparently People were waiting for the store to open this morning, I might look around a few of their other stores but my message to anyone eho wants on is contact the store straight away as theres an ever increasing chance that they will be sold out.

I went to my local store and they hadn't got any either!

Can anyone confirm if it was a digital receiver? We all know the equipment was digital compliant but was the receiver analogue or digital.

Anyway, I'm perfectly pleased with my set-up at the moment. I'll only go digital for FTA channels when BBC World closes on 13°E in analogue, which is where I get it from at the moment.

BTW, they are plenty of places to receive BBC World in FTA digital but most have deliberately funny symbol rates and some are just out of the footprint for the UK. If you wanted to receive it you would probably need about a 2m dish! Very Happy

As someone previously mentioned, BBC World is available from the Arabsat 26.5°E satellite and has standard paremeters, which means it could be received by a Sky digibox, but there is little else there to warrant a whole system devoted to it.
You would be better to stick a bigger dish up and fit two LNB's to it. It's so close to SkyDigital that with a massive dish, you might just get it in. Though I doubt it.

Of course, you could set up a motorized dish, but they cost a lot of money!

The best bet is just to tune to 13°E as BBC World comes in perfectly on a 60cm dish. Of course, it will close eventually but because of its large audience and it not being available FTA in digital from Eutelsat, I would imagine it would be a good couple of years before they close it.
Or they could close it early, but I would think they would have to put a FTA version in digital at 13°E.

I dont know if anyone else has noticed but if you phone direct enquires to obtain the phone number of your local store you are given a nation number, when you get through it then says 'Thankyou for calling, your call is important to L'ee'dl please wait as all our operators are currently busy'. It also points out that store numbers are not available - so all they can give you is directions to the store and the nearest store by your post code. It would seem that Lidl dont want their customers phoning them either that or they dont have a phone. Lidl stores arent listed in the phone book or Yellow Pages either!

I just wanted to know has anyone else had any luck in getting the equiptment?

One hope is that because of demand they will be ordered in again though it is worth pointing out that Lidl stores do not know what stock will be delivered until the Thursday before when customer leaflets are delivered and available in-store

Just thought I would let you know!

Yes, when I rang up they were reluctant to give out any information and just said that the offers on Thursday were based on a first come, first served basis.

I'm not that bothered anyway. I went and had a quick look in our store but they didn't have any but it was no real concern to me.

Looks like all the really SERIOUS satellite people wanted to get it. The offer was good for the dish and LNB alone, but I have no need for a new one so I probably wouldn't of got it anyway. Smile

Just to really add that my local (Portsmouth) Lidl had none in stock when I visited them. James, I disagree with your 'serious people' expectation, for wouldn't a 'serious' person already own such a set-up ? I'll look out to see if the cheap equipment is in Ad-Trader though, because there is probably going to be a few people who thought they could get Sky channels with it.
