Jeremy Thompson doesn't look like he's in obit attire on Sky.

No, he's not. But too many others are, for it to be entirely coincidental. Is it perhaps the anniversary of the passing of a famous news correspondent or something? I am flummoxed by this one. Hope it turns out to be nothing.

News Special on the way? Jon Sopel vanished from his News 24 slot earlier, Louise was on her own for at least the last hour of her shift.

Don't expect too much, but be prepared folks because it is too coincidental. Only time will tell I guess but keep your eyes on the news channels.

I think we can safely say that it is not the queen, it seems like it could perhaps be Prince Phillip, I have noticed he has not made public apearances lately, indicating he may have been ill. However, I don't like to speculate about death...

To prove that news is not always released streight away remember a few years ago when there was a rumor for a few days that the queen mother had died, however a few days later she turned up, alive and well. But still, people suspected there may have been an emargo that lasted for days.

Newsreaders do often wear black, but black ties is a little out of the ordinary, especially when it is on all channels.

I also noticed that on Richard and Judy, Judy was completly in black. May be she was prepared, as on occasions they go live to the channel 4 newsroom for breaking stories.

His (George Best) condition is said to be improving. However, even if it were related to him, this would not warrant such official "mourning". This would normally only be reserved for Royalty, Senior Politician or Senior Religious Leader.

Quite possibly, but it's probably not best (no pun intended) to speculate.

By the way, what reason would there be for an embargo?
