BTW, since Emma Birchley left, is there any East of England Correspondent for Sky News currently?

Not that I'm aware of. Rhiannon Mills seems to cover a lot of East of England reporting when she's not on Royal reporting duties (she has good knowledge of the region being ex-ITV Anglia News).

Bit rich of Eamonn Holmes to say during todays paper review that there are some appalling BBC presenters on tv who can't read, have a face for radio etc

Got to be honest and say I won't miss him as he's been increasingly irritating me over the last year and seems very full of himself but that said I'm not a fan of SJ either or Isabell Webster who to me come across a bit snobby looking down their noses at people.

Edit he just had to tell those in the newsroom to be quiet - "we're on air here" during the middle of an interview about breast cancer.

To be fair, he didn't mention the BBC specifically. He has a false argument though with his 'pay peanuts get monkeys' analogy (second time he said it since his leaving was announced) as being paid more doesn't necessarily mean better.

You're right he didn't mention them specifically when he said that but the BBC was the main talking point during that discussion

I'm not convinced that he chose to leave - last week during the papers he was joking with the paper reviewers that they might not be back as the management like to change things - not his exact words but similar.

There are plenty of others leaving, so that comment could have referred to somebody else departing under less amicable circumstances.

If he did not choose to leave, are you saying he was sacked? or his contract was not renewed.

I don't think that was the case, he seemed genuine to me, that he decided to leave. He seems to me a major asset to the channel.

It would not have been the case that his contract wasn't being renewed as his current contract ran up to 2018. However, it is quite possible that certain terms in his contract may have come up for renegotiation which prompted him to depart before expected.

I don't think he was sacked but extending the programme to 10am, possibly making them stand up for 4 hours and a possible pay cut could have all forced him out.

I'll speculate that the desk will be lowered for softer segments or Kay's shift. In effect, the desk enables them to have a normal sized news desk or lowered to become a soft area.
