Creative discussion is something I long for; constructive criticism, suggestions etc. Ranting and inappropriate use of caps lock I do not

...curious that something like a new studio can have this effect on someone . Meanwhile, in Syria...

Im really sorry but we arent discussing the horror in Syria. We arent discussing journalism per se, we are discussing the set/studio and other presentation areas. Yes in the grand scheme of things, its certainly not important. If this discussion seems trivial to you, then why take part and then criticize the other posters for defending their position? There are many journalism forums in which you can have lively discussions about the merits of one channels journalism over another.

I dont think posters should be scolded for choosing to chat passionately about presentation or a passing interest in broadcasting (which you choose to refer to as ranting). I not trying to be mean and I hope you are taking this message in the spirit in which it is being given. Smile But please dont make the rest of us sound as though we are cold and unfeeling people because we choose to discuss a stupid glass box and not the horrorible plight of fellow humans in Syria. Thats not fair to the rest our your fellow forumers and how they may feel about that particular situation.

Simply making the point that I don't see how something like a glass box quite deserves the strength/length of criticism that's being levelled at it in certain posts. Nothing more nothing less Smile

Reminding those that disagree with you that this is a PRESENTATION forum is rather tedious however. Also, when a post runs into the multiple paragraphs, heavy on criticism and shoutiness but light by way of positive suggestions, yes I do consider it to be encroaching on rant territory. Just my opinion of course.

If my comment on Syria offended anyone in any way I of course apologise. But I suspect 99% of the forumites would realise the point I was trying to make.

I wonder if they'll try positioning a presenter to sit in front of the big screen, that could look smart with the right visuals and no off shoot.

Well, they are using this now with Sarah-Jane on Sunrise. My guess was wrong then, but they are really using all sides of the table.

just been watching a bit of Sunrise and this programme seems to suit the new studio really well.

The HD picture quality has improved massively with the move. New cameras/gallery? Are they UHD/4K ready?

Thanks, I thought I was seeing things as it was only a glimpse.

So why is it not at the new Sky Central 24 hours?

Eventually it will be. The glass box isn't used 24 hours as, I think it has been mentioned on here, the evenings and beyond will essentially be a dark, empty building. Spring 2017 has been mentioned for the newsroom, second studio and gallery all moving over.

Boring.

I can imagine the building will be much busier when the Newsroom moves across, plus any other Sky staff who are still to move in. The areas visible from the box should be much busier as it looks very quiet at the moment.

Once the other studio is up & running, I wonder if the box will only be used for Sunrise & Kay's Programme and perhaps the Papers? Not sure the double headed presentation works well in the Box so these programmes perhaps may come from the new Studio?

This seems accurate in observation

Pics from Sunrise:
Horrid angle for the weather because of Sarah Jane sitting in front of the screen they cant have a head on shot of the screen.

Here's what I imagined it would look like:

A very quick, rough mock up.

(I tried adding more of the blue light in places other than the desk, but it didn't look right somehow)

I think it all looks alright. I'm not going to not watch because of it. Maybe all it needs is for some distant walls in the background to be painted blue or something - nothing major, just to add a small amount of colour.

I do think it's shown how dated the old studio looked however.
