Well that is very strange indeed. One would have thought it would have been cheaper to use Katie, Andrea or Felicity, instead in taking on yet another presenter. ITV have a surplus of newsreaders.
I think this is great news! From what I've seen of Nina when I've been in London, and watching occasionally on Sky Digital, she's really good -- it'll be great seeing her on a national bulletin instead of stuck away on a regional programme.

Totally agree. When I have spoken to Nina in the past she has been really great to chat too and a laugh! I remember when she used to present Border News!
I guess they'll be a bit of a shake up next year when Trevor leaves, so Andrea or Katie may be getting another regular role.
I guess Mark Austin may move to 10.30pm - and then Nicholas Owen move to the Evening News, with Katie or Andrea at Lunchtime. Alternatively, Nicholas could stay at lunchtime with a team of female newsreaders fronting the Evening News.
I am sure she is a good newsreader and was appointed entirely on her own merits.
However one of the head honchos at ITV News Clive Jones is known to want to bring in more presenters from ethnically diverse backgrounds in order to reflect the society we live in.
