I know one - Jackie Bird (Reporting Scotland). She's just plain annoying and I can't believe that the Beeb keep making her present our (Scottish) versions of Children in Need, etc, etc.

Jackie Bird is astoundingly fab - when she anchored News 24 when that factory blew up it shows just how brilliant she is. However Scotland's CIN opt is appalling, even she can't save it, and RP is a joke of a show so it makes her look bad Sad

Newsreaders who can't read the news - add Jonathan Charles to the list. The man SHOUTS the news.

However, I do quite enjoy his presentation style, if even although I have to adjust the volume control.

Sophie Raworth really is awful - it seems she can't go through a bulletin without messing up... She never used to be like that, did she?

For me the worst regional presenter in the Midlands is Central's Chris James - totally full of himself, totally over the top in presentation - I cringe everytime I see him.

Why oh why he is allowed to turn the studio during GMTV bulletins into what looks like a Breakfast Buffet selection at the local Holiday Inn is beyond me - orange juice, coffee, croissants on the table! Just over the top like his bulletins.

I wait for the time I see him reading the late news in his pyjamas with a mug of cocoa on the table. Complete pillock!

I actually don't mind CJ that much Embarassed -- at least he has a bit of character about him. Whether you like that character is personal preference of course! Although by all accounts he's an affable chap. I think the breakfast platter idea is quite inspired, but then again I'm quite sad like that Laughing

Chris James - no, Julian Draker yes please.

I used to have a thing for Tom Parmenter and Darran Little - I am over that of course.

I only have eyes for Geraint Vincent now - swoon Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

Surely the worst is Vanessa Langford who sometimes shouts the news on London Tonight at the weekends?

At the risk of turning this into a male newsreader totty thread, GV is OK to look at. Doesn't do anything for me I'm afraid; it's something about his wide nose that puts me off (sorry if that sounds harsh-- I'm no oil-painting Laughing ). Not really keen on dark-haired men anyway.

Although TV Times, I'm sure you attentively watched Geraint's reports from Portugal over the week, he seems to be fond of unbuttoning a revealing amount on his shirts when he goes tie-less! Wink

Got to go now, I've got a chatline to do....

Surely the Beeb must think he's a comforting face for the region? It's fair to say you can't imagine NWT without him now - he's a Stuart Hall figure for the programme.
