Whatever the rights and wrongs of Madonna adopting this new baby, I am getting totally bored of the coverage of this story.

Also is it just me, but whenever the news refers to him as 'baby David', I can't help but think of The Royle Family lol.

It's not news, and it irritates the hell out of me when TV news programmes fawn over the latest celeb tittle-tattle rather than doing their job which is to present the real news which affects us all.

If people want to know about who Madonna is adopting or who Paris Hilton is shagging this week they always have the tabloid rags. Get it off the TV news for pity's sake. ITV is more guilty of this than most but they all do it.

I agree. This story is also being covered in depth by both BBC World and CNN! It's been on both of those channels every day for several days.

I must have seen this story on News 24 six times an hour. If Madonna is doing it just for publicity, it is certainly working.

to be fair, they are looking at the wider ramifications of the story rather than just treating it as a celebrity news item. Not sure why ITV have been singled out on this thread - they don't even have a news channel any more.

Related to this tabloid craze - at the moment on the Sky News website, the leading story is the allegation that Paul Mac beat up his wife Heather. I'm not at a television so can't see if it's leading with this story but the fact that the website is giving it so much prominence is frankly sad. Firstly, the allegation is only an allegation and may be incorrect and secondly who cares!
