Am I right in saying that there are two sets of titles in the 2008 look one which has a tune which is identical to the 1999 tune and another which is slightley different in the first half of the titles?

Strange thing in Look North Cumbria and NE tonight. Lara presenting started in front of the tv screen then on the sofa then behind the newsdesk, with the reporting scotland theme between a report and going back to the studio. is this a new tweak for LN? Was a good wasy of doing things tho.

The last relaunch was a missed chance to update the set. They could have at least dictched the 1999 desk, and replaced it with a cirular red one. And is they're any need to see cables running from the wall to the desk on the tight wideshot?

They're still missing the full DOG on the headlines / coming up strap at the start of the 6.30 programme. And finally.. theirs a right mish-mash of headline beds being used.

The 1999 remix has afaik been dropped. London used it for 1 or 2 days, i assume look north did the same. Everytime I have watched online it now has the theme used in every other region.

Yes that must be it-I know for the first 3/4 days after the re-brand they used titles with new onscreen titles but with the exact 1999 tune. I personally prefer that tune to the present one which is very simmiler and you can tell is related to the 1999 set but it has had those iconic blip sounds removed which I hink makes it sounds duller and dosent match the onscreen images as well as the 1999 tune did. I wonder why they took that tune off as it did sound much better where london and N.E.C they only two regions to use it? I wonder if that is why they scraped it to be like the other regions.

Sigh, I think we have been over this before but hey here we go again!

Look North NE&C and BBC London used the following theme at the rebrand:

http://www.tvradiobits.co.uk/news/LDN08.rm

They have both now since changed to the theme used in every other region, which can now been seen on this updated page:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7349107.stm

However the hold used at the end of the titles has changed in London to the one used on the national news titles.

As was mentioned on the general re-brand forum, the music used on the version that appeard on the BBC site for the London titles was an old version of the music which was set to be used in the 2008 relaunch.

It was then decided to change it and all regions were to use the verison they now use - this was a last minute change, so that's why several used the version that appeared on the BBC website rather than the one they now use.

Hope that clears it up!

Yea well the orgional (proposed) 2008 versions for the regions sounded much better and I am glad we got a glimps of them up here alough all they have done to change them is take the blips(sweeky bits) out. I think all of the other regions should have adapted to that tune (the 1999 one) insted of us and london changing to theres.

I still dont get how/why LDN and looknorth managed to use the wrong titles and were not corrected untill 3 days later.

There's several versions included with the music pack - one with the london style end and no rumble, the other with rumble Which one they decide to use is fully up to them.

Which is a shame, as there's a couple of nice short versions that no one seems to have used yet! Smile

Look North Leeds seemed to use a short version of the titles yesterday evening on their bulletin which I hadn't heard before (haven't seen the Saturday bulletin for a while).
