In light of the revealing survey showing this forum's utter contempt for George Aligiah, I thought I might make a series of occasional polls into the people that cram our head full of government PR.

Brunette Kate Silverton, 32, no doubt a very attractive lady. One of many now populating BBC News.

My question is, was she hired for her undoubted good looks, or for her ability to deliver the "news"?

Didnt she leave the BBC when her role on Breakfast was scrapped like Moira? She is now at Five.

That helps! haha! I must say I rather like Kate, I think she comes across as friendly and very able!

I doubt if she has lol. Anyways I like her and hope that she can do more BBC One bulletins in future.

Kate Silverton is not 32.

Wikipedia lists her DOB as 4 August 1970: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kate_Silverton

And this BBC News story dated 7 December 2007 lists her age as 37: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7133119.stm

Obviously, you're in a minority 'the eye'.

My PM system has been flooded with messages of support since putting this pole up.

So, it's looking like Nuts TV or driving instructor college for Kate.

C'mon people, what are your thoughts???

Right, then use the English language correctly, and don't tell me what to do.

Pot, kettle, black.

PLEASE stay on topic!!! It's really really important that you do! Otherwise you're intimidating other would-be respondents because they think you'll jump down their throat.

So, do you think the BBC just hire eye candy for female "news"casters now?

Aren't we talking of the woman who recently took somebody to court for failing to make her look beautiful?

My personal opinion would be that the only thing the individual was guilty of was not admitting defeat before even trying.

I'd vote "driving instructor", but I have to seriously doubt her ability to do even that.
