They are going to look foolish repeating this one overnight tonight, the headline sequence was completly messed up by Mark Webster, the first headline was not spoken over and the rest all over the place!

Yes it was a bit of a mess - wasn't it? Also I dont ever remember seeing Mark present on the ITV News Channel before - is this his first shift?

No, he's done it before, and to be honest, he's shocking.

No - Mark has often done the overnight shift, which sometimes starts at 11 or 11.30.

ISTR he has appeared in the daytime too on occasions.

He has improved somewhat in recent months, but he is a far better reporter than presenter.

He's been doing overnights for ages. And shows no signs of improvement either...

LOL - Mark Webster used to present ITN overnight bulletins back when Night time tv began where the Morning News was one hour long. He was dreadfull then.

Don't pick on Mark Webster. He is a good newscaster. Newsreaders can make mistakes. Over the past few days, he made Nicholas Owen-style comments to end the Morning News e.g. "for many of you, you are off to work, for me, I'm off to bed". That may not be a classic saying but it shows you he's human, unlike Sian "Annoying" Jones who seems to be impressed with every word she says. I remember Mark in his "Night Time" days and I remember in the early 1990's I remember he always used to be on before wrestling was shown in the early hours.
[Webster was not always on, but it seemed like it, like Mark & Mary on the Evening News - they're always on].

Mark Webster may well be a nice bloke, but he is not by any stretch of the imagination a "good newscaster".

All too often he looks like a frightened rabbit caught in the headlights.

Can I ask, what does a 'good newscaster' do that makes them good? And what does someone do that makes them 'dreadful'?

If that's not sarcasm, I regard a 'good newscaster' as Nicholas Owen-esque newsreading. 'Dreadful' newsreading can be attributed to Sian Jones, who, again, seems to be impressed with every word she says. That is my opinion. You might have a different point of view but that was mine.
