They did the same in the run-up to the independence referendum, though in that case BBC One Scotland showed the One Show in a late-night slot (except, it seems, for an OB from the Invictus Games opening ceremony, which went out live on BBC Two Scotland). It doesn't appear that they're doing the same this time round.

It's back on May 2nd, but that might just be for the Bank Holiday.

From Monday onwards The one show is dropped until after the election. With Reporting Scotland becoming hour long.

Interesting to see they've done that, in light of the previous 'Scottish Six' trial. I wonder if this has been done in part to please certain people within the Scottish parliament, baring in mind the charter renewal. Both Wales & Northern Ireland will still be showing the One Show. It looks a Question of Sport is being used as a filler programme for the 1 hour Wednesday edition.

This isnt the first time this has happened, Two week before the 2015 election the one show was dropped but was broadcast at 00.25, and during the Scottish REF again two weeks before that it was also dropped.

If they were serious about a Scottish Six the next few weeks would be the time to do an on-air trial. Think we know though it isn't something anyone within the BBC really wants.

But that not what the extended period is about. Its just like the normal programme with Sport still at 18.50, then straight after that Jackie or Sally moves over the other section for formal interview and other pieces.

I'm not sure quite what it says about Scottish politics - either that it's just fluffy, lightweight and unimportant; or just a bit human and happy not to take itself too seriously - but the main party leaders were all interviewed by a sitcom character.

I hope the coverage on BBC1 in England doesn't concentrate too much on the devolved elections given that there is separate coverage in the nations.

BBC Scotland's political editor Brian Taylor was talking about how it was a great way of raising the profile of the election to people not usually engaged with politics.

No reason why somebody in Manchester would be more interested in the outcome of the London elections than the Scottish or Welsh elections. It's all part of the story and whilst it will be covered in detail by the nations they'll be a duty to report on it for viewers outside those nations too.

I disagree with this sentiment - I hope that the coverage includes all the devolved elections because they're far more interesting than local and PCC elections. Living in a ultra-safe council seat, I have as much interest in who the London Mayor is as to my next Councillor. Similarly it's not like they can say it is of no relevance - the Scottish Parliamentary Election will have more effect on me than a council election in Oxfordshire or Liverpool.

The National programme, which will no doubt be shown nationally on BBC News, is a good opportunity to cover all the elections going on. Afterall most councils don't really get any more than a fleeting mention so it's not like anybody watches local election coverage for their council results - it exists to give an overview of the results. The only thing I'm hoping for with the election coverage is that the BBC don't interrupt it with an outbreak of VD at 0900 on Friday Morning.

Nothing on Thursday night bar the usual news bulletin, but there is an election programme from 7-9pm on Friday.

Drones are obviously the in thing with BBC Scotland at the moment - some very nice, presumably drone, shots of Hopetoun House for the titles of the leaders' debate this evening.
