CNN also has one more anchor besides Anderson - Jonathan Mann

They sent all these people right after the news broke ans since then they sent even more.

Quote:
CNN Deployments To Haiti
As dawn begins to break over Haiti, CNN correspondents and anchors are already enroute to report on location.

CNN correspondents deployed so far:

- Jonathan Mann (CNN International Anchor)
- Ivan Watson (CNN International Correspondent)
- Anderson Cooper (CNN Anchor)
- Susan Candiotti (CNN Correspondent)
- Gary Tuchman (CNN Correspondent)
- Dr. Sanjay Gupta (CNN Chief Medical Correspondent)

In addition to continuing coverage on air, CNN has created a special webpage featuring the latest news from the Haiti. It can be accessed at: cnn.com/haiti

I would imagine it's not exactly easy to get to right now, and the priority is getting aid to the country. Possibly they were only allowed a certain number of people?

Seems a rather stupid decision to have the bulletins anchored from the airport when Matt Frei on the BBC was having to really shout to be heard over the aircraft. (I'm assuming other media is also based at the airport).

I'm not sure the coverage across all channels though is getting across quite how big a disaster this is said to be (ironically down to logistical issues due to the scale of the disaster I imagine). The coverage seems to be centred around the airport and getting the aid in, rather than why the aid is needed and the stories of the people directly affected.

The Airport is obviously being used as it's defacto US Territory and thus more secure, the Haitian government having ceded control temporarily of the Airport to the US military.

Bit of propaganda with pictures of the airport with floods of US aid apparently arriving. It's a bit nauseating.

I think someone mentioned that there is a hotel stil standing, or partiallly which they are staying in.

I still wonder where that hotel would get food and water from though and how did they go about booking rooms when it was so difficult to communicate with anyone in Haiti for the first few days.

Yes, I agree, last night's effort, if it was not concerning such a appalling and tragic event, was almost comical.
I suppose no one thought of giving Frei a Coles lip mic to use ?

Sod the homeless then!

I'm usually all for news presenters being on location as it often adds to the story - but I think this time around with them being marooned at the airport they're kind of just getting in the way.
