I saw the rather awkward interview that Lyse Doucet did over on BBC World (the title which incidentally she persists and insists on giving the channel) with the Georgian president. Clearly it was a last moment landing and perhaps not everyone was prepared. But it demonstrated that World had made the right decision with their running order.

CNNI I believe did a similar interview. Who conducted it for CNN?

America is a supporter of Georgia, and will find itself embroiled against the Russian Government.

Yes, but that's only because Rev Dublya thinks the Ruskis are attacking one of his states.

It'll all be okay once one of his advisors works out that it's the other Georgia and tells him.

Alex Rossi, the Moscow Correspondent, is in Gori. He did a live phone report earlier and had to cut himself off half way through a sentence to run away from some shelling.

Isn't it interesting seeing how Russia Today report this story. On their website the headline reads:

Quote:
A woman is trapped in the basement of her bombed-out house in Tskhinvali after Georgia launched a ferocious missile attack early on Friday. RT contacted Paeesia Sytnik by phone. She told us the body of her dead son was beside her.

According to BBC News, Georgian government are likely to impose a 15-day state of war. I can imagine the strap lines now, if Afghanistan was the "war on terror" - what will this be (for the next two weeks at least)?

Hala Gorani did the interview with the Georgian presedent yesterday at around 18.45 CET during YWT. It was his first interview I think.

Russia Today's coverage is incredibly biased, calling Georgia the aggressor, and implying that Russia was attacked.

Well, it's sponsored by the state-funded Russian news agency. It's not surprising.

More than one anchor across the global output has referred to President Vladimir Putin visiting the affected region and have also referred to President Putin during certain interviews and readings.

An easy cock-up, I guess.

Are you assuming RussiaTV has no loyalty to their own country, whether they support their government or not?

Not really: a schoolroom error for a foreign journalist! I would expect better.

Lyse Doucet now anchoring live from Tblisi for World. I assume she is the first network anchor (as opposed to correspondent) to be on the scene?
