Also being reported by the way by the much more reputable TV Newser, quoting the same source. http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/report-megyn-kelly-moving-to-hannity-timeslot-on-fox-news_b191320

If this is true, then Sean Hannity is the one who is the one who is moving somehow, maybe to weekends, as he did a weekend version of his show, when his weekday 9pm show was Hannity & Colmes.

What people have suggested online that If Hannity were to stay on prime time (7pm-11pm) in addition to Megyn moving to 9pm it would be at the expense of "(The) Fox Report with Shepard Smith. Despite that, Sean Hannity said on his radio programme. http://www.mediaite.com/tv/sean-hannity-responds-to-foxs-megyn-kelly-news/
Quote:
Let’s just say in the end I’m very happy. That’s all I can say at this point,[...]“I am actually enjoying people that really don’t know a whole lot, just going nuts. So I’m going to leave it there, just for fun.”

Also, CEO of Fox News Channel Roger Ailes did comfirm there will be changes to the lineup in the fall but did not go into specifics.. although he did say that all of Fox's premier talent will return...[urlhttp://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/roger-ailes-improving-flow-is-impetus-behind-upcoming-lineup-changes_b191380]

I think they will probably move Shep from 7pm. Although he does do well in the ratings, the news focus of his show doesn't really fit in with a lot of the nonsense that goes on either side of it.

I wonder if there is an outside chance of them running some 30 minute shows to keep all the key hosts happy in prime time?

Who knows at this point, Originally it was reported that Megyn could get Greta Van Susteren's 10PM slot when word got out that she was having talks with CNN executives, and all the talent working primetime recently got their contracts extended. As to who will move and where is anyone's guess.

As expected, Shep Smith loses his 7pm slot on Fox News. He will become managing editor of a new breaking news divison (based on the 'Fox News Deck') that will supposedly be able to interrupt programming at anytime to break news. His 3pm ET show, Studio B, becomes Shepard Smith Reporting.

Fox Report was one of the few, maybe only, non partisan broadcasts on FNC.

big pay rise for less work though for Shep, on the face of it

Interesting concept - one gallery dedicated to Breaking News. That means the built programmes don't have to sustain breaking news coverage from their gallery, and instead can hand to Shep and his team for breaking news coverage, whilst the normal programme gallery and production team can concentrate on reacting to the breaking news.

Smart if they can make it work. Means you concentrate your breaking news production journalism in one area, rather than spreading it thin, or appearing sub par when breaking news hits a team more suited to talk show format production.

The way I read this, is the programme gallery will continue producing their shows, onto tape, for the West Coast replays later, and the breaking news gallery will interrupt into the main network feed to provide the breaking news coverage, before returning to the programme gallery at a later point..

And with Megyn Kelly joining the prime time lineup as a much less partisan idiot than some of her colleagues, it will be interesting to see if Fox News becomes a little more 'moderate' in the hope of winning over younger viewers. Their average viewer age is worryingly (for their long term future) old.

Question is now who will go where. To me it would make more sense to have one of the lower-performing hosts take the 7pm slot before O'Reillys, as his show would likely (within reason) sustain its viewer base even with a lower-than-current lead-in. Kelly is untested in prime time, and Van Susteren scores considerably lower than Hannity and O'Reilly, so surely having Kelly or Van Susteren on before and after the O'Reilly-Hannity block would make the most sense? Especially Kelly at 10pm, where she'd be fairly safe against the competition, while benefiting from a large lead-in? If they move her to Hannity's 9pm slot, she'd be under immense pressure to match Hannitys ratings, against the competition's strongest performing show.

Speaking of the competition, anyone have any thoughts about Alec Baldwin getting a Friday 10pm show on MSNBC?

Do you mean the later repeats - AFAIK Fox News Channel (unlike the main networks) doesn't operate split feeds and time shift for the West Coast separately.

And so does CNN and other live 24-hour news channels. Other than national bulletins on terrestrial networks, who does timeshift live news for West Coast viewers?

Not sure about News, but I think Nickleodeon have split-feeds so that their programming fits viewing times (I guess based on school times?)

Cartoon Network too. I would assume all other cable channels also.
