The new day studio is hideous! It looks like an unfinished construction site with all the exposed bricks. The set looks like it's a better match for a HGTV programme instead.

Unusually, coverage of tonight's Kentucky and Oregon Primaries is coming from New York (and the New Day studio) instead of the Election Center in Washington.

...

Doesn't really look like a 'Situation Room', does it? Wink

If I had to guess CNN and Turner may have wanted some of their key talent for their upfront a which was on Wednesday. If you don't networks or whole media companies (NBCUniversal did their presentation for NBC, Telemundo and their ten cable channels in two hours) is a yearly gathering In the third week of May where media companies pitch their upcoming program seasons to advertisers. The networks will bring out their biggest stars to make a brief appearance to pitch their shows and mingle with the advertisers. Typically the week before you hear that a lot of shows will have been cancelled and the pilots have been picked up. Frequently they finish selling their ad inventory within weeks of the presentation (after the other networks have done their presentations).

News programming can only have a break once every 30 minutes. However, there is an exemption that allows a broadcaster taking a live broadcast from overseas to follow the same pattern of ad breaks, but they still have to ensure they don't show show more than 12 minutes of adverts in an hour.

Sky News has the usual 3 breaks an hour usually though, unless you mean something different?

4 ad breaks... 15, 30, 45 and just before the 60th minute

Not at those exact times, but thanks.

Still the best.

They'd have to remove the horrific facelift it got when HLN took over and went with a social media focus.

I think if they're going to bring it back it would be wise to install new brighter 3DLP RP for the curved projection wall with a new screen. Then replace what looks like the other two larger screens (some look like their RP as well) with LCD or LEDs.

If they "reskin" well everything except for the tech and throw in a nice desk it would look great.

They will never bring it back. By the way all the TMobile branding is gone. As the Daily Share program was cancelled . All 99% of CNN presenters are in NYC and who knows Time Warner is likely itching to close CNN Center anyway. Sad. Its politics channel 24/7....unless a plane crashes. Zucker has ruined everything.

You keep saying that, but there's still a ton of departments still based in Atlanta. Newsource, Image and Sound, Digital, CNN en Espanol, and International are all still out of Atlanta, to name a few.

Of course it will still be "something" left in Atlanta, as there are loads of Turner properties located there. Zucker & Co probably want to drop CNN Center faster than a bad habit. They moved originally from TECHWOOD in the 80s....wouldnt be hard to move it back and consolidate all Turner entities in Atlanta to one campus. BBC relocated the newsroom to NBH. Its not a stretch for something like that to happen. This wouldnt be unprecedented. Plus the bigwigs seemingly could care less about CNN Center and its history. The execs and virtually all domestic anchors are located in NYC/DC to cover only "the plane crash" and the "politics". Especially with the ReimagingTechwood plans being launched and CNN NY moving from TimeWarner Center in a few years to the Hudson Yards Development and them selling off parts of CNN Center already. CNN Domestic is such a slow lumbering disjointed mess.

Well I think Zucker has done good for both CNN US and International.

CNNI is a great news channel again, with rolling news, lots of double headed bulletines, great partnerships and nice visual look.

CNN US is a whole new channel after being an inconsistent mess in the several years before Zucker took over. He gave the channel a stable, fixed schedule, brought in some great new talent that can lead the channel for years to come (Tapper, Sciutto, even Cuomo etc) and with all of this improved ratings tremendously. Yes the coverage is often over the top with too much forced breaking news but it's not as if it was much different in years before Zucker. It is a US news channel after all and over the top drama, talking heads and sensationalism is what passes for news.

The only bad thing he's doing is the mentioned, Atlanta abandoning and moving everyone to New York. I don't like that.

Funnily enough, that mirrors what he did with MSNBC, taking that out of the Secaucus, New Jersey campus that it had been based at since it began, and relocated it to New York, alongside the rest of NBC News, where it still is today.

Sad to learn that Errol Barnett is leaving CNN. Always rated him as an excellent presenter, both desk and field.

Errol is joining CBS News as a Global Correspondent.

Today was Errol's last day at CNN. Here's a video of his goodbye. BTW, him and Rosemary are probably CNNI's most popular anchors/pairing, judging by the huge amount of tweets and loyar viewer's feedback they get every day.
