Aha. World service television! Yes indeed. Lindsey Brancher, Riz Khan, Martine Dennis and Julian Marshall. All four of them sported the same bouffant hairdo! I think they may even have passed it around between shifts!

Those were the days.

May I also add Peter Dobbie!! He joined the channel when it was still there I think.

No. He joined when it had transitioned from World Service Television to "BBC World". In 1995 or 96, if I'm not mistaken.

In fact, didn't the former ITN NAT presenter Pamela Armstrong also appear on WST?

You know in the way that airlines paint some of their aircraft in a retro scheme to celebrate a particular anniversary, for example? Well, I wish World would turn the clock back for just one week and reintroduce the Flags for a walk down memory lane!

Indeed, some of the original faces are still there. Nik. Martine. Peter.

I can prove he presented on WSTV! Now this will be interesting! Take a look here:

Back to the presentation thread, please. We're all talking about the presenters now. I think there's a separate thread for that (surely the BBC News Presenters & Rotas thread).

The generic BBC One news titles with the British Isles in the first frame.

How strange it used the red and cream titles. ISTR that before 2000, the overnights moved back to the News 24 studio and World would take the new look for the overnight bulletins. It's really a mish-mash of pres back then.

I agree. World should take a look back at the past brandings, especially the iconic "blue and sun flag" ident. They were awesome.

Mike Embley is also one of the original faces of World back then before he moved to Newsroom South East, then to World again after the programme ended in 2001.

Can someone remember this?
