What I liked about this era was the casual dress of the news presenters, although I didn't see much of it it looked quite fresh and different to the news bulletins of the time over on BBC One.
It also had programmes like Zero30 which became Liquid News.
Did the relaxed dress code also extend to BBC World at that time? I can't remember now.
Yes, it's a shame the flags era didn't last longer. It only got 2 years on News 24 and about 3 on World. Musically I preferred the World versions, but I do like the N24 themes too. The music was much more chilled out than the David Lowe music that followed, yet it was also quite attention-grabbing. Whereas DL's music was loud right from the start, the flags music started very quietly and built up gradually - it really was quite enjoyable. I just can't believe that the WBR flags music survives to this day on BBC World. In this age of radical overhauls every couple of years, it's something of a miracle that a theme tune has been left untouched for 15 years!
The flags era IIRC was introduced at the launch of BBC World, but the music package that I posted earlier wasn't introduced until 1997.
The 1995 flags on BBC World look like they are computer generated, but the 1997 flags frem World and News 24 look like they were probably an actual flag, filmed underwater.
Yes, those flags (1995) were actually introduced in October 1993 when it was still called BBC World Service Television. However, the music was changed slightly when it became BBC World in 1995 - before the whole look and sound was updated in 1997.

Compared to others like CNN and MSNBC at the time and any news channel before or since the flag idents i still think is quite unique. Compared to now where the BBC News titles are a ripoff of NOS.
Most news networks seemed to drive to computer generated graphics as soon as they were available (as did the BBC), I find it utterly bizzare, yet brillant that they switched back to using real flags.

In fact, it really ought to be 1993-2000 - even though the flags left News 24 in October 1999, they persisted on BBC World until April 2000. That's always been one of my online bugbears - so many sites (even TV Ark) erroneously state BBC World rebranded in 1999 as well.

Ah yes, that clip would have been between October 1999 and April 2000. At that point in time, News 24 had relaunched but BBC World had not. So, overnight when the programmes came from N24 the National News titles were used instead, because the later 'joint' titles weren't aired until April 2000.
It wasn't a domestic bulletin, it was definitely overnight N24. Darren Jordon started out in that role.
