It looks tacky. Maybe if it was better executed but even then viewers prefer a clock on screen.

The clock just needs to go, its pointless. Do you see any news channels integrating the clock with the set? It's displayed onscreen for a good reason.
I have to agree with dbl, get rid of the clock as it is doing nothing for your design.
