Thank you all for the feedback, I have looked through each response carefully and will take all feedback on board for v2.

However, one thing that won't be changing is the colour. Teal is a refreshing change from the dull red BBC News has been using for 15 years. ITV News use two shades of blue as their two main colours; BBC News would use a blue colour, but with a silver colour as the secondary colour. It might be slightly similar, but it wouldn't cause problems. (Especially if the silver colour was more prolific in the design - something I will work on)

For v2, I'm going to look into animations, re-drawing the W that has the VV appearance and adding more information onto straps.

How will teal/blue work for the studios and opening titles? They were designed to look well with red.

Also red has good brand recognition for BBC News in the UK and around the world, hence why it has been in use for the past 16 years.

I'm currently thinking about designing a new set of titles for BBC News which align with my new branding. It will be stills though, as I have no idea how you would go about making the animations.

The studio could also be easily changed to be fair.

If you ditch the red, you need to ditch the rest of the branding too. Simply recolouring the existing titles would never be accepted.

Out in the real world, It'd be a brave marketing company to decide to scrap one of the best know news brands on the planet, especially to replace the colour scheme with that of ITV

When did I say I was recolouring the existing titles? I didn't. I have an entirely new concept for the titles.

The combination of font and colour doesn't quite do it for me. Neither appears authoritative enough and as such you've made BBC News look less credible than it ought to be. The astons are well designed but I'm not liking those long bars plugging the website and Radio 5. The colour isn't quite ITV News but similar enough to look rather 'copycat'.

Thank you Brekkie and DavidWhitfield, I really appreciate it.

I'm always keen to take on feedback and make changes, but not to the point where I don't like my own work.

So, altering the colour scheme - which others have pointed out doesn't quite work that well - will put you off your own work? I appreciate you have a particular vision in mind, but if your designs don't look appealing to others, then you have to take on board their feedback and adjust. It's never a good idea to get too emotionally attached to your own work.

The cynic in me feels you're still not willing to take on board any constructive criticism and feedback you ask for.

I've said it twice and you should probably take it in that if you want to propose a completely new colour scheme, you also need to explain how it will work with regions, titles, studios, trailers and logos. I mean, this is the current logo with the new colour scheme.

And you need to take into account on how much the BBC News brand is associated with the China-Red color. I didn't really realise how attached they were until I saw the newsroom like this.

Out of all the mocks I have done here, I never put my foot down and said I'm not changing something. This time is different because I genuinely believe that this would be an improvement.

I have already said a new set of titles is in the works. If every region went in the direction of Spotlight and their titles, no red would feature at all. It's interesting that the latest titles feature none of the famous red at all.

The studio would need changing, which I have already admitted. Major changes wouldn't have to be made though. The newsroom would also need some changes, however, the red wouldn't have to be erased completely.

If BBC News really did change their colour scheme, some people would moan and some people would love it. But at the end of the day, you'd just have to lump it because they won't change back despite how many of you write angry letters to Newswatch.

Wrong, the BBC would preempt the negative publicity and angry letters all calling it a waste of money so wouldn't change the strong, bold, newsy red and replace it with a weaker, less authoritative teal. I don't think you realise how entrenched the colour red is in the BBC News Department - far from being one of two main colours used around NBH - it is in the Lightwell backdrops for BBC Regions - many of which are physical parts of the set that would need to be replaced. Most News programmes on BBC World News use Red as part of their branding as does the World Service. It would be a ridiculous amount of money to do something that weakened the brand and had no effect on the quality of the output.

The colour is fine. Stop complaining about the colour... walls can be painted, sets can be redecorated, light bulbs can be changed. If Aaron does not want his mock to be red... i fail to see the problem.

BAM...

For those who have a predilection for China Red... there is absolutely no reason whatsoever why you could not have both... you'd only need minor changes to sets & lighting and you can even leave the newsroom walls painted red.

10 minutes work changing colours in an old mock. Laughing

You conveyed what I was trying to say quite well. The studios would need major changes, the current lighting setup just would not work in a news scenario with the teal. Think Business Live.
