Tyne Tees Look North (North East)
Could network BBC2 get away with using this classic ident in 2015?

While I'm as much of a purist as anyone (and I don't think this improves on the original design vision), it's difficult to believe an ident with such vast quantities of blackspace would make it to air nowadays, in England.

Three targets: integrate the awkward box logo so it looks like it belongs, naturally fill the widescreen margins (to avoid the TV set auto-cropping issue), use the lights to give the impression of depth, as though the '2' is sat on the floor/table.

Hope you like Smile

That works very well I think. Perhaps the BBC TWO text part slowly turning brighter but not fully white would work, and perhaps not in a box, a la the BBC TWO NI versions might improve it further. I like the reflections of the neon lights on the sides which help to reduce the mostly black screen. Overall, I'd say I like it.

I didnt get this at first. I saw an ident i was pretty familiar with and came to the conclusion that you had just slapped a box on to it.

Then it hit me.

The way the new is matched with the original is utterly superb. Simple, Subtle and wonderfully effective.

5/5 - Would love to see a clean version.

It's such a simple effect however, it works so effectively in lifting this ident and giving it depth. I'd like to see a clean version along with one that uses the NI style logo but 5/5 for concept and execution.

Take note, new mockers! This is a very, very basic effect on an old ident which improves upon the current look very effectively. Please remember this before entering Powerpoint. Unless it actually improves the original, there is no real reason for its existence!
