Looks like they are indeed changing the logo... http://www.test.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/cbbc

There is some kind of logic to the logo when you look at the more detailed version on the test website - the two centre 'stripes' represent the 'B's, flanked by bits of the 'C's at each end. As is so often the case, it will probably make more sense when seen animated.

Much like the BBC Three logo, it looks like it's been designed with being turned into an 'app' in mind - the designers have obviously been watching the same episode of W1A...

If the trend for designing TV logos with apps and social media in mind continues then the BBC logo itself must surely be in danger.

Shocked

Maybe it'll grown on me, but my initial thought was "oh dear".

EDIT: The image posted by steddenm doesn't tally with what you see when you follow Robert Williams' link. The two middle bits should be abstract B's, not plain rectangles. Going with what others have said, I assume that the version with plain rectangles is a particular single frame from however it animates.

I think the 'plain' version is probably a version intended for use at small size. When you go to http://www.test.bbc.co.uk/iplayer and click on 'Channels', you'll the simpler version used there.

This might be just me showing my age, but it seems a more teen-orientated logo rather than for 6-12s.

I swear to god that W1A logo parody was a documentary! Very abstract.
