Big Brother Canada 2016

After last years amazing steampunk theme, GLOBAL pours millions into a completely redesigned house. Unlike the cheap makeover CBS give the US BB house. GLOBAL makes sure that BBCAN house looks completely differently. This year the house backyard and even the studio audience space got makeover. This year is a Casino "High Roller theme. BBCAN always creates a full 360 environment. BBUSA neglects the ceiling. The cheapo office ceiling tiles can still be seen from season 2. Ughh. Looking at this years house I expect BBCAN to be creatively lightyears past BBUSA. There are 2 bedrooms instead of one. And there is no picts of the Have Not room. Rumors are it has a Vegas wedding chapel theme.

They moved the laundry upstairs from the backyard and put the machines into a sponsor themed alcove. Smart and save some money. LOL

Here is the infamous hot tub. the only actual outdoor space.

Wow! Only if Channel 5 cared this much. Then again they are having much a bigger revamp than normal for the summer series (depending on planning permission.

Not sure on the decor but like the changes to the layout.

Here is a better pic of the indoor "backyard". No grass this year. Very odd choice. But i guess logistically it makes sense. They probably got sick of putting that "grass" down after converting the area for comps.
It seems even less inviting with the nightime theme skyline backdrops. Could they have put some sky/cloud graphics on the ceiling like they did in series 1. Its suck the show is int he winter and the only true outdoor space is the hot tub. But they did remove the "rafters" they had over the hottub. So its mostly open sky. Except there is a huge Disco ball suspended above it. But over all BBCan has slammed BBUSA creatively every year since its inception. Time for new exec producers with new ideas. Whilst the entire house hasnt been completely redesigned. The staircase and the ceiling treatments and the new double bedroom gives the house a newer feel than the cheap Ikea US house redecoration. The US house is so bad you can start the see how worn, rundown and cheap it looks on camera. You can see cracks and repainted surfaces and peeling stuff. Horrible. By far the worst. GLOBAL is really pumping some cash into the show. Hope its financially feasible. The Canadian networks sadly arent always on the best financial footings.

Looks like a Vegas casino on acid. But if you reemember the pics of the steampunk theme. They usually go oversized on things. I guess I like because it actually looks far better than CBS has ever done with the dump in LA. The hate BBUSA house is getting on twittter is amazing. But expect CBS to do nothing as usual.
Here is the new stage/audience. CBS never does anything. BBCAN 1-3 it was the same, i think but they updated the door to the house. But facade of the house was made of screens so they could change it to match the theme. CBS is too stupid to do anything like that.
The casino hotel theme carries through to the outside. If the show gets picked up again they likely will have to really modify this stage or rebuild it to match the next theme. WELL DONE TO GLOBAL.

To be fair to BBUSA they did update the front of the house most years until they switched to the latest set three years ago. The house though is long overdue some structural changes - not just for cosmetic reasons but also to give them more options with the format.

Just noticed something. I count only one rug/carpet in the entire house. Only in the HOH bedroom. I noticed there are no carpets in the main bedrooms this year. They covered the floors in that color bubble graphics. The living room has no carpets just black glossy plexi and light boxes and the "backyard" is devoid of anything soft underfoot. Hope they bought some slippers. Talk about cold feet!

So the house "hotel/casino" theme is called the BBCAN GRAND.

Big Brother Canada production continues to top itself year after year. A tie with the release of the movie Allegiant. They designed a Veto comp that looked pretty impressive on telly. These big competiton "productions" show the thought they put into the program overall. Completely blowing BBUSA out of the water production-wise.
