We've seen the pre-launch presentation; now here's the final on-air look of Serbia's Nova:

Those titles are lovely. I'm not so keen on the studio, but it's simple.

Agreed. Along with the elegant lower-thirds, the look is one of the most effective in Serbia and neighboring countries.

Indeed. One would thing that one of the largest ARD broadcasters could come up with something better. For example, the smaller MDR, serving east-central Germany, looks a lot more modern:

BTW, for those interested in the ARD regional broadcasters, here's a more-or-less complete compilation of their newscasts from 2009, beginning with Tagesschau , the national news, as it looked like at the time:

To be fair, MDR Aktuell looked almost as terrible until they updated it about a year ago.

German news presentation is usually very conservative, and Bavaria is the most conservative part of the country. There's nothing wrong with some restraint in presentation, but then you need an engaged designer who can make something great with limited ingredients.

BR's neighbours in Austria, ORF, use almost the same idea for their intros, yet it looks so much better:

Speaking of Austria's ORF, here's their main evening news from 1986 -- during the Chernobyl crisis:

CNN Domestic effectively ceases all CNN Center productions on Weekdays

The inevitable has finally happened, though all back-office operations will continue to take place in Atlanta, almost all studio productions have cease at the massive Atlanta studio and HQ on the weekdays for CNN USA.

From TVNEWSER:

Two CNN anchors are making the move from Atlanta to New York this summer. Beginning in August, Brooke Baldwin and Carol Costello will anchor their respective hours of “CNN Newsroom” from NYC. Costello anchors “Newsroom” from 9-11amET and Baldwin helms the 2-4pmET hours.

“Carol Costello and Brooke Baldwin will move to New York to anchor their weekday CNN Newsroom shows, beginning in August. There will be no other changes to those shows’ production team,” a CNN spokesperson told TVNewser. “Atlanta is, and always will be, a critical part of CNN Worldwide’s operations. It remains home to much of our programming and content, including the production for many of our shows, CNN’s worldwide newsgathering operations, CNN Digital, CNN International, CNN en Espanol, HLN and Newsource.”

Other CNN shows that are anchored from New York but produced in Atlanta: “CNN Newsroom” with Don Lemon” and “Legal View with Ashleigh Banfield. Wolf Blizter‘s 1pmET “Wolf” is produced in Atlanta but anchored in DC. A CNN source tells us having the anchors in New York gives them more on-set guest opportunities.

The shift means all of CNN’s weekday programs will be anchored from New York or DC. When Jeff Zucker took over as CNN Worldwide president, he said: ““Atlanta will continue to be the home for CNN and continue to be the backbone of CNN.”

So the massive Studio 7 will probably appear for a few hours on Saturday and Sunday.

So, will CNN International move their Atlanta-based programming to Studio 7 (at least during the weekdays)?

For CNNI it would be great. Its a waste to have this big expensive studio sat empty for 90% of the week.
But having said all that. They have consistently run CNNi on a tight budget. Studio7 has to be really expensive to run. So I think financially they will stick with the current studio. I would be surprised if Zucker & Co threw anymore resources behind CNNi. I prefer CNNi over CNN Domestic. Domestic is frankly appalling and embarrassing to watch. I frankly hope they dont even think about CNNi. I think if they concentrated any effort on it they would ruin it like they HLN and CNN Domestic.
