A sign of London Live's irrevelent tone as mentioned by Vikki Cook going by this Facebook status about the floods.

The latter.

Surely you mean the former (disrespectful to serious things) rather than the latter (not relevant)? Talking about flooding, no matter how crassly, is definitely relevant.

In this case, it doesn't affect the London Live editorial area which is the 33 London boroughs alongside being deeply crass.

I can't wait to see how if they use this format for their news output how they'd deal with another riot or a shooting. It appears to be very similar to the Standard's editorial where they paper over the cracks by spinning a positive out of it.

London Live held a press conference this morning.

Some bits of interest.

It'll be the first newsroom to fully use Nikon Digital SLR cameras in and out of the studio using a 'Film Look' effect for reports.

News and current affairs output - 3 hours at breakfast, 90 mins peak and a lunch show. 'Will be celebratory of London. It won't be 5.5 hours of grime and depression'

There will be no main anchor for the news output.

London Live claim they'll make local politics "interesting"

The first newsroom "on the cheap" with rolling shutter, only 24mbit acquisition, and depth of field so pointlessly shallow the subject is bouncing in and out of focus.

HOWEVER... they do have a MRMC motion control rig in the studio, that should be something to behold, they are impressive machines. 9 axis control being mentioned which is interesting, but could get stale with inputting of new moves a complex task.

A fortnight ago (the last time I was in London), the Standard had a wraparound cover promoting the channel, and a ridiculous 'puff-piece' promoting the comedy offerings on the channel as part of their TV listings section, although it was not marked as such and thus I thought it quite distasteful. It certainly looked stupid!
