Last Friday, RTVV was shut down by Spanish police, following orders by the regional government of the Valencian Community.

Here is the last minute of Nou Televisió on the air:

And an extended video of the moment,, as covered by Catalonia's 3/24:

One note: the hashtag, #RTVVnoestanca ("RTVV is not closed"), has been used by the RTVV channels (Nou and Nou 24) since the announcement of the shutdown, earlier in November.

Yesterday, Brazil's Globo launched all their national newscasts in high-definition. And that's the only visual change. No new sets, no new music, no new graphics.

Bom Dia Brasil (morning news):

Jornal Hoje (midday news):

Jornal Nacional (main evening news), with the full opening sequence, rarely seen these days:

Not a word was said on-air about the HD switch... until Jornal Nacional , which aired a five-minute story about the switch:

Jornal da Globo (late news):

Many stations also switched their local news operations to HD (including the owned-and-operated station in Rio de Janeiro, the network's flagship and the last O&O to launch HD newscasts), here are a few examples:
Globo Rio (O&O): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWmTf_vUAQw
RBS TV Porto Alegre: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwbuM7Hnw4M
InterTV Cabugi (Natal, Rio Grande do Norte): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wb40JQXldW8

Cable television provider Time Warner Cable announced that it will rebrand all of its regional news channels by 2014, with New York City's NY1 becoming "Time Warner Cable New York 1" by December or early 2014.
The decision to rebrand NY1, when announced in March, was met with immediate condemnation from various people online and word is that the move stunned the newsroom.
Time Warner's reasoning is to remind viewers that NY1 is provided by Time Warner Cable, despite TWC's long-standing reputation for its less-than-stellar service to the New York area. TWC assured that "NY1" will be used on air and that besides the graphics
and set, no other things will change.
Here was the announcement, back in March:

And the official name "Time Warner Cable News NY1":

and now the video of the new graphics to be implemented:

The Dutch current affairs show Nieuwsuur (equivalent to Newsnight of the BBC) will be broadcasting on Sunday as well starting in January. Therefore, two clips were posted on the website: the changement of the NOS Journaal studio to the Nieuwsuur studio (which are both on a turntable) and the session for the new theme tunes. The theme tunes, which are actually a tweak of the old one, are produced by Martijn Schimmer, you'd probably know him of the The Voice titles.

The opening to AlJazeera Arabic's flagship bulletin Hasad Al Youm.

Interesting to note that this is the second bulletin presented by one of the channels most popular faces, Eman Ayad, after a two-year absence from the channel. She'd been battling cancer.
