Old BBC News 24 & BBC World Schedules

I've no idea if anyone else will find this interesting or useful, but I was playing around with the Wayback Machine earlier and managed to come across some old BBC News 24 and BBC World schedules which I thought I would share.

These examples come from Thursday 12th February 1998:

There's so much to note here, looking back 15 years later. One thing that really strikes me is just how much 'filler' programming existed back then on both channels, but particularly BBC World. It's amazing to think that now both channels are effectively rolling news channels and programmes like Europe Direct and USA Today have long since bitten the dust.

Another interesting thing is "BBC News 24 UK". I guess this was a forerunner to UK Today? Funny how they brought back News 24 Tonight years later to bring a round-up of reports from the regions as a new innovation, when in fact it had already been done!

The Wayback Machine is so hit and miss, I was amazed to find these schedules to be honest. I'll have a dig around and see if I can find any more, particularly weekend schedules. Will post them if I do.

Surprisingly, finding weekend schedules actually wasn't too hard. 1998 seems to be a good year for the listings having been preserved in the Wayback Machine. Here we go:

Science Review. Now that's a program I had long forgotten about. Zero 30 was also a good program to watch with Chris Price although that moved on to become Liquid News on BBC Choice/Three but didn't last long after he sadly died. It's quite interesting seeing the old schedules once more, makes you realize just how much things have changed since 1997.
