ah yes but Sky Sports is a far far far stronger brand name in terms of a sports network than ITV Sport, which at present is a logo appearing every couple of days on ITV.
and I have used all of OnD's interactive services, and quite useless they are too.
Slow, and badly put together, not even in the same class as Sky's.
There is no denying that sport WAS the major draw to digital TV.
However, with the imminent close of analouge terrestrial the major draw to it will be choice, and Sky Digital will win hands down.

Actually, ITV will not be able to advertise their service too much, otherwise they will get killed by the ITC.
The biggest draw to SS is the premiership, because that is what people actually want to see!
The important Champions League games are put on ITV and the other pile of trash is put on OnSport.
Formula 1, very good, but it is again being offered a static prospect, if Sky had the rights to F1, they would have offered different camera angles and views from drivers by now, not so with ITV and Ond.
Of course ITV has gained the highest audience figures for football you idiot, when was the last time Sky Sports was available in 100% of homes?
Don't you think if they got rid of Channel 5 and put on Sky Sports instead that Sky Sports would get by far the largest viewing figures! Of course they would.
And David's point is very true, Sky Digital has more sports channels available and more sports services available than OnD it has more movie channels, more entertainment, the only thing OnD could offer me is ITV2 which shows repeats of rubbish and things like the letterman show, gosh.
I know I have won the argument when you resort to calling people names, and you a professional debater. Sky cannot offer the unique combination of ITV & ITV Digital in free-to-air and premium sports television. The Channel will also have ATP Tennis, Snooker and Championship Boxing as well as the 330 live football matches already outlined. Sky Sports is not a stronger brand, as I've said before the majority of the british public will have never seen a football match on Sky. More people relate to the ITV brand and Des Lynam.

I think you will find that the biggest draw to Sky Sports is Premiership Football. ITV also have Formula 1 which is recognised as an innovative and first class product, football coverage will also improve next year with an impressive increased portfolio. There will also be ATP Tennis on ITV Sport. ITV's Champions League coverage is excellent, and has gained ITV the largest football audience of the year. Viewers are not stupid and will soon recognise ITV as a package service, there will be no getting away from this as cross promotion on ITV will be rife.

You, win an arguement, you're a funny guy.
ITV is a stronger brand than Sky, ITV Sport is not a stronger brand than Sky Sports.
I called you an idiot, because of the fact that you are talking like one.
Is it not obvious that more people will have seen a match on ITV than on Sky?!
Sky have interactive tennis and snooker, Sky have boxing, so that arguement isn't worth mentioning.
Sky TV is a stronger brand than ITV Digital, that fact remains, and will be proved when the subs numbers are announced, then I will see you eat your words.

Well at least I talk sense, and don't endlessly waffle. I am about the only person here who will actually take you to task and provide you with a decent argument. Can't have you thinking that you speak for everyone, because you certainly don't. I expect that the combination of ITV free to air - ITV Digital - ITV Sports Channel - ITV.com will be a very appealing prospect for sponsors and advertisers alike. I would expect a big turnaround in the reduction of churn rate & an increase in subscriber no's, then I will happily watch you eat your words.

Right, well as to the above, I basically will not dissipate my spirited mind on chesh whatever his entitle is. His talent as a debater if truth be told are exceedingly pathetic. As I have stated before, selecting parts of other posts and tediously boring everyone at length to death over each phrase, at the same time as not coming up with any genuine i.e. correct arguments, are not arguing the line of reasoning, or discussing the subject matter.
I, in actual fact, could go on for a long time, but unlike chesh will not waste the point.
If you can comprehend this c. go away, if at all possible to the US where you belong, where you love. Please don't rush back to this forum; no one actually likes you in here.

Cheerio,
You sound a bit like Anne Robinson now! I have nothing against him, and I'm sure very few people in this forum actually do. People have different writing styles, and some take a little longer to make a point.
As for loving America, well I agree with him. It is a great country. We share the same language, common history etc. We have far more in common with the US, that that of those total dictatorship loons across the channel in France, Germany and Belgium.

Heh! But your site is called UKTV - the same name as the company who owns UK Gold - which is why this site moved from the old UK Television name!

For goodness sake guys give it up.
Whilst I appreciate points made on both sides, as a member of the forum I dont appreciate reading name calling and squabbling.
Asa, I firmly suggest that this thread is closed.
Time will determine the success of ITV Digital depite of the comments raised on this (usually) interesting forum.

I agree that between myself and cheshirec, this subject has now been done to death. As you say time will tell, and maybe one day this thread may be dusted off, and somebody may have to eat those words. But, I have to say that if we all agreed about everything this would be a very boring forum. Cheshirec's opinion is very widely different from mine on most subjects and I can't let some of his comments and unfounded arguments go unchallenged. Ok, anyone fancy a pint ?
